Finland U19 vs Russia Oct 2 14.00 CET

FT 1-6 (1-3)
Finland scored from their few chances a nice header, Russians scored whenever they felt like it. Gk Joronen got injured and substituted after the first goal, but not Casillas would had saved the poor hosts, the team lacks quality. Hugely disappointing, fortunately the team is young and under-aged for this age group.

Fin - France U17 friendly

Edit: FT 0-5 expectedly. France was dominant at all areas of the pitch, and even if there are a lot of changes made in Thursday´s match about similar score-line is to be expected, and the pricing error will be corrected a bit towards -1.25 or so.

Finland tonight at 17.30 CET Tammela stadion, Tampere. I have some idea of the Finnish players, but nothing of France. Odds 0,25 @ 2.01 - -0,25 @ 1.87. In general we all probably have an idea of which is a better footballing country. Another encounter on Thursday at Valkeakoski 17.00 CET. The squad have played this season 10 matches with 3-1-6 stats. No need to remind you that this is a friendly. I thought about driving to see this, but it is too dark and wet to enjoy the ride. Kakkonen B

A huge match on Wednesday when Ilves host SoVo. A must win for both teams for different reasons. SalPa have an easy schedule, the goal difference now is for Ilves + 26 and for SalPa +21, but if it happens that SoVo win and SalPa too against LoPa who have finished their season and lost last night away at Bk46 6-0 then it is pretty much eaten up by the last round. SoVo are almost definitely going down even if they win the remainging two matches, unless they go past 3 teams in the standings, which of course is possible. MuSa at least are in big trouble as they face Pallohonka & SalPa, EIF might be saved if they win poor Sinimustat next round. 4 bottom teams will go down from this group (or 3 if the 4th from bottom reaches more points the 4th bottom at 2A, but it is unlikely.)

Ykkönen promotion and relegation battle

It looks good for RoPS and Viikingit now, the latter specially given the easy-looking fixture list. Of course all Viikingit opponents are in the relegation fight (well MP is well gone by now)  and fully motivated, but on the other hand they are there for a reason.  At the bottom the third relegation spot is a fight between JIPPO, TPV and Hämeenlinna, unfortunately they have no mutual games left.

Haka - IFK Mariehamn

Haka miss at least Nooitmeer and Parviainen, probably Chavez. Joenmäki doubftul. Osei returns, but he has hardly been praised this season, and for a reason.

MIFK are without regular strikers and centerbacks, and one of the recently signed American trio is doubtful.

Having no strikers at all makes this interesting, and honestly I can not even guess who MIFK are going to field up front if also 3rd choice striker Ingves is sidelined, but still MIFK are far more dangerous in front of goal who have scored most of their goals from set pieces and all the goal-scorers of early season have left the club. The top-scorers of Haka today have scored 2 goals each.

Haka -0,25 @ 2.07? No way! Likely a no bet, I am really interested in seeing who they have  in the starting 11, both teams.

One more thing, do not go to MIFK official home pages or to their fan forum, the pages are virus infected.

A few Kakkonen C analysis here by lv for today

TP-47 - Kiisto 53 22 25
o/u 2.5: 59 41

TP-47 should be able to field their best squad, Kiisto played against GBK without their first-choice gk Kauppi, defender Timonen and striker Saranpää who both are quite important players, though their team did still possess plenty of quality so those three shouldn't be an excuse for the loss. Kiisto's coach Kevari will leave the team after the season, but he'll continue with them for the remaining games. TP-47 got another slightly undeserved 1 goal win against FCV, which seems to be quite typical for both of the top teams(Santa Claus, TP-47). I don't know if it's the mental strength of those two teams or just  variance, but based on the reports and the couple of opportunities to see them live I'd say they'll be in lot of trouble in the promotion playoffs as both are a lot weaker than what this group has usually  produced as its top team. Kiisto has played quite average after the Santa Claus win, and it seems that they lack that last 10% from 110% performance, or they are just in bad form. Qualitywise there shouldn't  be any difference between these two, but TP-47 has still lot to play  for and Kiisto's form isn't the best around and they're also a really bad away team so I've had to tilt my estimation heavily towards TP-47. I'd probably consider playing Kiisto with an +1 handicap, but overall this is not a interesting game to bet on. edit: team news look quite bad for Kiisto, as they miss Laiho, Ahonpää and Saranpää from their regular starters, important midfielder Ekström was substituted on the first half in GBK so he's probably questionable too. double-edit: with the current odds I'm happily skipping this match

FC Vaajakoski - FC OPA 54 21 25
o/u 2.5: 65 35

FCV continued their autumn slide against TP-47, their performance was however a lot better than in their previous games but the goalscoring struggles continue for them, even their usually reliable topscorer Karlstedt managed to miss three 1 on 1 situations against the TP-47 gk. OPA were quite lucky when they drew against PK-37, but they did show some fighting spirit that has been lacking from the past few rounds. Given that they're only 6 points above OPA in the standings, this match is important for FCV too. Overall this is a very tricky match to predict and I think both the side and total could easily go either way. Bookies have estimated the chances for Vaajakoski win a slightly lower than me, if there's something near 2.00 available I'd probably play it as I think FCV is couple of steps better than OPA, but FCV's poor form is certainly troubling. Team news: FCV misses their long-term injured players, so no drastic changes on that front

FC Vaajakoski - FC OPA 1 54% 1,95 2/10 Sbobet
FC Vaajakoski - FC OPA O3.0 55% 1,86 0,5/10 Sbobet

SJK - FC Jyväskylä 67 17 16

o/u 2.5: 67 33

SJK's coach Kärkkäinen was fired(but he'll continue to coach for the last 3 games) this week which was somewhat expected considering the disappointing season and the big ambitions that the club has. They'll miss their captain Ylinen and the first-choice goalkeeper Tuomela, and important defender Lehtinen is questionable, other players that are
out haven't featured enough to make any reasonable difference.  FCJ had their chances last week against YPA but in the end they got easily beaten down, things are looking quite grim for them as JBK still has the honor of playing against Korsholm but I'd suppose they've not given up their hopes yet. There's a huge class difference between these teams, but the coaching situation and how it affects SJK makes me a bit cautious. edit: FCJ does have their starting defender Ala-Porkkunen out

SJK - FC Jyväskylä -1 57,5% 1,86 3/10 Sbobet
SJK - FC Jyväskylä O3.0 58% 1,86 3/10 Sbobet

FC YPA - FC Santa Claus 46 21 33
o/u 2.5: 66 34

YPA should be able to field their full squad now that their captain Saarela is probable to play. edit: FC Santa Claus preview suggest that they have numerous starters out but you'll have to wait for the line-ups(http://tulospalvelu.palloliitto.hs.prewise.com/print.asp?id=19569&ser=44) as there's they failed to mention any names. YPA has been very motivated the past two rounds and no doubt the unlucky loss in the opening weeks against Santa is still on their minds, or at least their preview states so. Santa Claus is obviously also quite motivated, and like YPA they've managed to snatch couple of wins against the bottom dwellers in the past two weeks. I'll have to strongly disagree with the bookies estimations on this match as they've currently set Santa Claus as favorites. I don't think there's any real class difference between these two and Santa has in the past month or so played just like any other top-half team so with the home advantage(and travel disadvantage for Santa) on YPA's side they should be at least a slight favorite. However, this doesn't mean that YPA is that tasty of a bet or huge-stake choice, but I think there's definitely some value on the home side as I think the motivation aspect has been played up too much(edit: and the team news seem to be heavily in favor of YPA).

FC YPA - FC Santa Claus +0.0 1 58% 1,78 3/10 Sbobet, did some
unforgivable stake raising, really would be worth of only 1,5/10 or so
FC YPA - FC Santa Claus O2.75 62% 1,76 5/10 Sbobet

Market move of the day; HIFK - PK-KU at Kakkonen

Edit: FT 3-0 and there was no doubt of the winner at any time, HIFK were dominant and superior from the kick-off to the final whistle, and the starting price was a long closer to the truth. Still wondering where the move came from, every factor of any significance was favouring the hosts. Never mind, thank you market!

From HIFK -1.5 @ 1.85 to --> -1.25 @ 2.88!

Needless to say, I am watching you tonight HIFK. Closely. But honestly I think this is a mistake in someone´s analysis; (useless) head-to-head favour PK KU, and perhaps someone has misread the table?

Three rounds to go, 3 (in worst case 4) bottom teams will get relegated, the winner goes to promotion play-offs.

Kiffen - LPS quick bet; over 2.25 @ 2.56

Edit: it was live after all, and only a few minutes into the game there was over 2 available which was tasty line, but did not really materialize and in the end we must thank "Fefe" for the late 2-0 goal.

It is not probably live at all today, so many other competitions going on so I just better wait for the line-ups and see if there is anything worth a bet. The same applies probably to VIFK - Korsholm.  It might get very rainy soon here in Helsinki.

No idea about the injury situation, but at least LPS have one suspended player to add on any injuries they might have, and playing on weekdays has never been their forté. If you really want to have a bet I would go after all for Kiffen. Defense beating the offence. There have been 38 goals in 23 Kiffen matches this season so far, LPS are a bit more overish with 84 goals! Two styles meet, both have met their targets (Kiffen were looking for 34 points last time I spoke with the manager) and Kiffen are more likely to stick with the plan they have, which is keeping the troops under the ball.

Kiffen --0,25 @ 2.01. Is it value? Kiffen seem to be with full squad, no LPS line-up available yet.  I am not sure at all, but if we take a look at the totals there is a funny line; o 2.25 @ 2.56! It would make a bit of sense if there was something at stake here, but as there is not I will go for that silly line for a Kakkonen game, even if it is Kiffen.

Forgot to mention from Veikkausliiga next round btw that IFK Mariehamn have an injury crisis, and would be thinkable to bet against them but they face imaginationess Haka. IFK miss both (or 3?) regular strikers and central defenders, so they are not very tasty, well very untasty to be honest. That match is off my list.

About match fixing in general again - a link

I have been publishing and linking Declan Hill  several times as he talks about Crime in football, here is the recent story:

Time for a Real Sports Watchdog

Dear Friends of Sport,
I am now back at my desk. After the World Cup I took some time off to work for a friend who was running in local politics — an exhilarating and very interesting experience. Then I had a brief holiday. Much has happened in the field of sports corruption in the last couple of months and I will be blogging frequently over the next few days covering subjects like the Pakistan Cricket Scandal, Mazher Mahmood (the investigative journalist who broke the story) and a round-up of other match fixing problems. However, to begin with an auspicious occasion next week:
On September 22, I will be giving a speech to the forty-four Sports Ministers of Europe at a special session organized by the Council of Europe. I will say the following:
1)There has always been corruption in sport, but our generation faces a new and very powerful form of match-fixing. The dynamic that drives it is the globalization of the various national gambling markets. The world has simply never seen anything like this phenomenon before, and one of the offshoots is a huge rise in corruption in sports leagues that previously have never been challenged in this way.
2)To combat this rise in corruption,.. full story:

Free stream available today for Honka - AC Oulu at 17.30 CET

Edit2: FT 3-4, what else? Jonke scored all 4 for Oulu. Highlights here:

Edit: the limits in the table favour Honka a bit too much, Hakanpää & Savage missing were not included in the early estimation. Of course, the markets are overreacting again and -1 @ 1.95 is good value for the hosts, there are still quality players for each position.

Possible line-ups after some late team news from home side;

Honka
1 Peltonen
20 Otaru - 3 Heilala - 13 Koskimaa - 5 Aalto
7 Weckström - 28 Schuller - 29 Simpanen - 14 Vasara
10 Puustinen - 27 Rasimus

AC Oulu
22 Rodrigues

5 Lähderinne - 6 Pehkonen - 2 Hietanen - 3 Kukka

19 Juuso Majava - 13 Nurmela -7 Dom Yobe - 14 Pennanen10 Don Yobe -11 Jonke

Honka have a striker problem; they loaned Aleksandr Kokko to PoPa and Hermanni Vuorinen to Charleroi; the only remaining proper striker is Jami Puustinen as I do not count Konsta Rasimus  a good one or a striker either, and John Weckström is more a midfielder than a goal-scorer.
Oulu do have a defender problem as key player Jarkko Hurme is suspended, and it is the part of the pitch where they really could not give any more handicaps as the replacements for all defensive positions have failed during the season. Also a few wingers are out injured and the weapons Oulu have seem to be rather limited.
HJK losing two points last night away at Jaro gives an extra boost for the hosts as with a win they could narrow down the lead to 4 points with 5 rounds t go, Oulu can also breath a bit more freely after seeing Lahti getting defeated again, and their main worry is now the relegation play-off instead of direct relegation.
Honka will start with full force as usual, and if Oulu keep on pressing high as they often do this might easily open up into a goalfest, Honka have a full squad to choose from and there are hungry subs available for the midfield to keep up the pace. On the other hand Honka have lost also a lot of silly matches this season when they have failed to convert their chances into goals, the worst reminder of being the home loss 2-3 to JJK when goal chances were in the neighbourhood of 20-4.
You have your own chance to make up your mind with live coverage, but rough limits here below, there is a chance I overestimate Honka a bit as they are far more close and known to me;

Honka Oulu
-1.5 2,23 1,82
-1.25 1,94 2,07
-1 1,71 2,4

as mentioned earlier Honka often start so strongly that the odds do not rise much for the first 10-15 minutes. As an idea it might be worth looking and waiting, Honka are not going to settle for a draw as it is more or less useless in regard of thre title race. At Oulu the score was 2-0, and definitely they are not that easy to beat but Honka are on their good day a big favourite, only time will tell if this is a good day for them or not.

Kakkonen C today

With the help of a local specialist the matches of the Northern group 2C today look like this; enjoy!

FC Vaajakoski - TP-47 41 22 37
o/u 2.5: 64 36

FCV gets their captain Autio back(still a long list of long-term injured players though) and TP-47 misses two important players in Talvensaari and Hakasalo. FCV were absolutely horrible last week against as they continued their average form, or now you could easily say that they are in a really poor form. TP-47 had an disappointing loss last week against SJK, and their promotion hopes are looking pretty grim. TP-47's 2nd place in the league is mostly just an illusion and in reality there isn't a lot of difference between these teams, but I could see why the eurobookies have estimated TP-47 as favorites and with the current form of the home team I'm leaning towards skipping this.

FC Vaajakoski - TP-47 +0,25 1 58% 2/10 Sbobet
FC Vaajakoski - TP-47 O2.75 59,5% 1,84 4/10 Sbobet, with yesterday's borefest freshly on mind, playing the overs doesn't seem that tasty but the second half of the season has been high-scoring enough that I'd still dare to recommend these, but maybe with halved stakes for added safety.

JBK - KajHa 60 20 20
o/u 2.5: 61 39

JBK is looking like the most probable team to stay in the league as they have the easiest schedule remaining from the three teams that are fighting against going down. Their play hasn't been that good, but unlike the other two, JBK has managed to win some games where they shouldn't have deserved full points. Fellman, the other Kronholm, Kula, J. Brunell, and goalkeeper Öst were the players from Jaro who played against VIFK. They aren't exactly world beaters, but they are probably an improvement over the former youngsters (and they've already played numerous games with JBK so nothing drastic has happened). The only team news I could find was that last week's goalscorer for JBK, Matias Wargh, went down with an injury and he's doubtful to play. KajHa played an okay match against YPA, which makes it a four in a row where they've played almost like a middle-table team. Like almost every other game too, the odds don't look appealing either way.

JBK - KajHa -0,75 1 54% 1,98 3,5/10 Sbobet
JBK - KajHa O2.75 56% 1,90 3/10 Sbobet

FC YPA - FC Jyväskylä 57 20 23
o/u 2.5: 65 35

YPA fought well against KajHa, however the fact that KajHa was at times the more dominating side didn't sound that good. But then again, KajHa has been notoriously hard to beat at home so maybe YPA can be excused. They'll get their suspended duo of Heikkilä and Hemmilä back, they do lose Kivinen but he's certainly not an important player even when's featured in the starting line-up lately. FCJ played a good game against Santa Claus, but luck wasn't on their side that time. The visitors should obviously be the more motivated side, but YPA looked sharp enough last week to not make me go any lower on estimation for the home team.

FC YPA - FC Jyväskylä O3.0 55% 2,00 4/10 Sbobet

Kiisto - GBK 46 22 32
o/u 2.5: 63 37

Two very equal teams playing here and with the current odds you'd have to do some serious bending to get value out of this. GBK might be in better form, but Kiisto's home record is the best in the league in terms of having no losses. Apart from GBK's K. Ainasoja, there should be no injury problems for either team. Like the Kiisto's preview mentions, there could still be some changes if the coaches decide to give the younger players a chance to show their skills.

Kiisto - GBK O2.75 58% 1,90 4/10 Sbobet

Santa Claus wasn't any better against FCJ than they were in their previous games, but in the end they managed to record a 1-0 win with the help of great finishing from one of their few chances and good defending, both of which have been their trademarks during the season. They do have some injuries but that shouldn't be an issue against Korsholm, who'll have to make the not-so-motivating long trip to Rovaniemi. It's doubtful that there's any "official" value, but I'll probably end up playing the home team if the handicap isn't something ridiculous like anything over -3,5.

HIFK - Kiffen

As it is a tight encounter where both teams share the same stadium and know each other from tip to toe I see it as evens at the betting market. The asians seem to disagree at the moment, Kiffen +0,25 @ 2.17 thank you.

RoPS - I am watching you tonight

Edit: FT 0-4, the superior RoPS won with ease and the result flatter the hosts. The market was wrong big time.

***

The asian odds for RoPS away at Klubi have risen from -1 @ 2 to -0,75 @ 2.25 approx.

I realize you are in a bad run, but you can be sure guys I am watching very carefully every move you make tonight.

So, be careful out there, even a monkey could see that the line-up of Klubi is one of worst they have had so far this season.

Moldova - Finland 2-0

I have said this before and it is no secret; the Finnish national team is overaged and the chances of any qualification were slim to start with. After the 2-0 loss at Chisinau they are even slimmer and not only because they got no points, but because the performance was not a winning one and the near future looks worse. Who and how are we going to win? Holland, or should we settle on trying to beat San Marino?

Sami Hyypiä seeing red is symbolic but not the key for the loss, the team is just not good enough and they are not going to prove me wrong next Tuesday in Holland - which is sad.

They say pessimists are just well-informed optimists, I can not see too much light in this tunnel. Thank you Fínland, thank you Mr. Baxter and congratulations to Moldova.
