Veikkausliiga June 12th

The big news during the intl break are that Inter Turku manager Fabrizio Piccareta is out.

The official version is that he left on his own initiative for personal reasons, but he was not fully accepted or appreciated within the team and there was very little success in Veikkausliiga, and the official truth is probably not the full truth.

We will never know.

He will be replaced by old dinosaur John Allen and defensive master Karo Virtanen. Now Allen is a relic whose methods and footballing philosophy are very simple and base on a good fight and effort but tactically there is very little be expected from him. Virtanen on the other hand was the main mastermind behind MIFK's title a few years back, and even if in general it is hard to predict what Inter will be like the rest of the season it is guaranteed that there will be some extra emphasis on the defense.

Expected points per game until June 12th:

This tool is about the become a bit useful now as there are matches vs everyone. There are a few easily identified better teams, a few weak ones and a lot of mid table clubs who can end up anywhere 4-10.

A few trends can be noticed, Honka rising, RoPS dropping and SJK likely improver in the near future.

Lineups and notes:

RoPS welcoming back Wato Kuate and Lappalainen, but in the defense they have Segawa and Geffrard and even VPS can take advantage of that. Hämäläinen on bench, why? Hyvärinen and Agnaldo out...

VPS perhaps have the honor of having made the worst foreign signings, and Guner is a top example of that.

Guess this ends somehow. X-X.

HJK still without Riski, Pelvas and Jalasto. Riski hopefully returns for European matches, but in these none of these is missed.  MIFK missing 3-5 regular starters depending on who you count. HJK to score +3 goals.

At SJK the big issues are the managerial change from a moron to a decent one, and Ions finally returning to match fitness.

TPS trying a bit of new things, but what can you do really when your material is Ykkönen class in general?

Lahti have Anier and Hostikka on the bench, last time they did it vs Kemi they did not get any goal scoring opportunities.

Honka missing only suspened gk Murray and winger Liikonen, but as even Korhonen is returning this is the strongest Honka so far this season.

KuPS are now making ex-striker, winger Savolainen into a full-back. Good luck with that, there have been some signs that it might work. El Said unfortunately joined Egypt side, but at least exciting Murillo is still there.

Ilves look like another random starting-11. I have lost count on what their actual optimal lineup might be.

Inter have their first match since manager Piccareta left, and I can not predict how the team will react as it was not a change everyone wanted. New managers Allen and Virtanen leave me somewhat cold.

FIN starting-11 vs ROM

A decent starting lineup regarding that there are some 10 players missing from the squad. The bench on the other hand looks rather sad.
