Dear Customer, leave us alone

I know I have talked about this issue before, but it so intriguing yet unfair that it deserves another shot.

Is kicking out the winning customers right, or good business?

All bets off for winning punters, please read.

Spending too much time in front of the computer?

I have not been out enough this summer, too many projects going on about Football, and betting, in Finland.

One has to make a living though, I know also worse ways doing it.

Super Cups, Charity Shields and other friendlies

They are not my thing.

Nothing happens and no one cares. Today I chose women´s football instead of Barcelona, I do not regret a bit.

Finland Cup 7th round

The Cup in Finland has reached the 7th round, and here are the remaining 8 matches. All games at this point will be decided by 2 * 15 minutes extra time and penalty kicks if needed. The reigning Cup Champion is HJK, who beat Honka last year in the final after extra time. Financially the Cup is not a big thing, but it is the easiest way to reach European Competition for season 2010-2011.

Betting analyses to be added later.

TPV – TamU
1st division 11th – League 6th

Quite surprisingly this is the match that will attract most attention and public this round. It is a derby, and TPV was one of the teams that gave birth to Tampere United some 10 years ago. The tension between these two teams is big, and despite that the difference in class this is the game where anything really is possible.
TPV is missing one key-player in Pasanen, but in this match there will no mercy as the connections between the teams are numerous and there is no love lost.
TamU have the best possible line-up available.

Bet: A good quality Veikkausliiga team playing home a relegation - threatened team from Ykkönen? TamU win with a handicap. TamU - 1.5 @ 2.23

Haka – JJK

League 5th – League 12th

Haka is the most succesful club in the cup ever and they know how win the crucial cup games. The bad thing is, they obviously do not know how to beat JJK as they drew with them away, and embarrassingly lost 2-4 at home. Haka are missing Parviainen, Corpache and Viljanen for sure due injuries and a couple more players are doubful. Also Nicolas Kivistö has left the team. Stranvall and Hynynen are among the doubtfuls and their absence would really weaken the team.

JJK main target is survival in the league, but as there is a break in the league because of international matches there is a plenty of time to reecover after this battle, and there is no question JJK is coming back to Valkeakoski having in mind to repeat the 2-4 away win of Haka a few weeks ago. Christian Sund and Mika Lahtinen will miss the game due suspension, which, especially in the case of Sund, is only a positive thing for JJK.

Bet: The treat of the week! JJK are a bogey team for Haka who are sliding in the League into the positions they belong, lower mid-table. Do not get me wrong though, JJK is crap, but hopefully they learned something from the football lesson taught by Honka last week. Lots of injuries for Haka and extra-time is looming ahead, which unfortunately means that I miss my scheduled time at the sauna but the bet is well worth it! JJK +1 @ 2.00!

TPS – FC Honka

League 1st – League 3rd

This is the dress rehearsal for the last round game in the League where possibly the championship will be decided. At the moment Honka is two points behind in the league, but like the home team they have been in top form lately and it is a long long time for both teams without a loss.
TPS have two important players suspended from this game, mf Wayne Brown who took deliberately a yellow card against MIFK to get the suspension for the cup instead of the league, and defender Igor Jovanovic.
Honka is pretty much the only team this summer who have been better than TPS, but the last encounter ended goalless at Honka earlier this season. Honka have rotated players a lot, injury list is short if non-existent and this is a chance for Honka to show TPS that also the league is still very much undecided.

Bet: Neither team have lost since A.D., but today TPS look more vulnerable than Honka, and it remains to be seen how they replace Wayne Brown. Honka 0 @ 2.04.

VPS – FC Jazz

League 7th - 2nd division group B 9th

VPS have been lucky with the draw. They already beat another second division team Futura easily and now they got another 2nd division team home. VPS will field a good line-up, and the quality difference is so big that an upset would really be an upset.
Not much to say about this match, a routine win to be expected.

KuPS – HJK

League 14th – League 2nd

Main target for KuPS is to stay in the league, but there is no question they fight very hard to reach the last eight in the cup. Last time when HJK visited Kuopio they got away with a 0-3 win, which does not reflect the match as also KuPS had their chances.
HJK finally returned to the top spot in the league while KuPS remains on the relegation place, but as HJK defender Jukka put it, ” This is not the time to look at the league, and KuPS today is very difficult team to beat with players like Venäläinen, Koljonen, Ollo and Dickson.”
HJK defender Pyry Kärkkäinen is suspended, Medo and Haapala are injured while four other players are doubtful; Riihilahti, Fowler, Roiha and Dawba Bah.

Gnistan – FC Lahti

2nd division group a 1st – League 9th

Gnistan from Helsinki have traditionally been playing at second division level – at Kakkonen. This season they have excellent work in their own league and are very close to being promoted 1st division. However, the individual skill level of the players is so much lower than of seasoned Veikkausliiga players that even with the home advantage and fighting spirit it is difficult to see any other result here than an away win.
Gnistan have a big group of players to choose from and Lahti is likely to rest some of their key players, but they are at least on the bench in case of emergency.

FC Inter – PoPa

League 8th - 1st division 7th

Inter Turku hosts PoPa from Pori on a nearby stadion instead of their usual ground Veritas because of Women Euro 2009. The league success has been worse than expected and Cup remains the only way for International matches for next season. The key striker Timo Furuholm is suspended, winger Ats Purje is doubtful but otherwise the team is the best possible.

PoPa have been unsteady at first division, but still have hopes for promotion to the league. One of the most promising PoPa – players Samu-Petteri Mäkelä is cup-tied because he has already played Cup with TPS this season, defender Junnila is doubtful.

City Stars – Pallohonka

3rd division - 2nd division group B 8th

City Stars from Lahti got relegated last season after very unlucky season, but with the saldo of 16-13-1-2 they have pretty much secured their place in the second division for next season by now.
Pallohonka, being a reserve team of Veikkausliiga team FC Honka have had a huge roster of players to choose from and it has been difficult to predict which ones are playing. The skeleton of team is made of U19 – players and sometimes the boys against men matches have been decided by skill in favour of Pallohonka and sometimes by experience and strength from the more seasoned players.

This is as far as either of these teams will go, in the next round the oppositing team is from Veikkausliiga and too much to handle, but both teams have enjoyed a good cup run and will fight for the spot for the final eight. There is not very much difference in the quality, home team is more experienced and away team is very skillful and fast. Goals are to be expected.

Walking the extra mile

I admit, I took the car, but it is more than 50 km to Lohja where LoPa play their home matches. I had taken Ilves + 0,5 before the game, but wanted to come and see it for real if it is worth it.

It truly was not, and after 40 minutes of play I took LoPa - 0,5 and ended up having a little profit whatever the outcome would be - the important thing is that there were no losses.

Did the same thing for Honka2 too, they did not have the lineup I was expecting.

Thanks to live betting, and the extra hours in the car and the mate at the other stadium.

Something new tomorrow, take care.

One Kakkonen game tonight at Turku

Åbo IFK - Kaarinan Pojat at 17.30 CET

It is no secret that most of the teams at Kakkonen do not want to get promoted as football is just a hobby for the players and Ykkönen is a far more demanding and time-consuming league.

KaaPo is one of these teams. The info is not official and when asked from them directly they would probably deny it, but it has been seen year after year that the team leading the table always mystically drops from the top. There is no more effort, no hunger to win the games when their place for the next season has been secured.

I am not sure if they also ease up on the training ground and start enjoying the summer, but bettingwise the main important thing is that they are no value.

Abo IFK is not a good team, but they are motivated and will fight for survival in this derby, it would not surprise me either if KaaPo would like to see Åbo IFK in Kakkonen as well in the next season, it would mean less travelling.

Åbo IFK
is the reserve team of TPS, and as there is only one Cup game for TPS in the next two weeks time some first team players are also likely to feature in this game as TPS have a full squad to choose from injury-wise.

The odds for home team + 0,75 at Sbobet have risen from 1.82 to 2.05 and it is time to jump in and get involved. I am also expecting a relatively low-scoring game and invest another half a bet for u 2.75 goals @ 2.05

RoPS - VPS preview

RoPS (13th)- VPS (8th)

RoPS: 3-3-0-0-0-1
VPS: 0-3-0-3-3-0

H2H:7-2-11

Last game:23.05.09 VPS – RoPS 2-0

RoPS from Rovaniemi drew 0-0 with Haka last week. Defender Janne Turpeenniemi knows how they turn the draws into wins and the receipt in quite simple, ” get the ball and players moving and everyone gives 110 %. At Rovaniemi all teams are in trouble with us!”
The teams last met in May at Vaasa while VPS was on a hot streak and won 2-0, ” but we had our moments are goal-scoring chances. On Sunday we only need to score better, ” continues Turpeenniemi.

VPS have already secured themselves a place in the mid-table, but head coach Petri Vuorinen foresees a difficult match ahead,” RoPS have played extremely well at home, they have themselves said that they will take the points needed from their home matches. I am sure they will fight hard, and in their african players they have a lot of talent and skill, and we really need to take away the space from them.”

VPS lost at home to TPS last week, and according to the coach special emphasis will be taken to cut the counter-attacks of RoPS as soon as possible. ” It was good to see that we can challenge any team in the league with the possession, but we have to be sharper in the defence, ” says Vuorinen.

VPS have travelled to Rovaniemi already on Saturday and will spend the night at a hotel. The kick-off is already at 14.00 CET.

RoPS are missing Christopher Musonda 19/3 through suspension and striker Jefferson Pires 7/1 has been loaned out to second division FC OPA. The new signing Jeremieh Ani is playing his second game now for RoPS. VPS important missing players are Jyrki Saranpää 14/1 and Toni Hahto 12/0, but Arttu Seppälä was loaned from Inter Turku to strengthen the attacking department.

FC Lahti - HJK preview

Lahti (9th) – HJK (2nd)

Lahti: 1-1-3-0-0-3
HJK: 3-1-1-1-1-1

H2H:8-4-8

Last game:25.05.09 HJK – Lahti 1-0

There is definitely no love lost between these two, for Lahti this is the match that has to be won in the season no matter what. The HJK coach Antti Muurinen did coach FC Lahti before this spell, and while he left he also took the best players of Lahti with him to join the biggest club of Finland. Lahti results lately have been disappointing, partly due injuries and additional games in the cup and end europe league qualifications, but for this encounter they will get almost the best line-up possible.

HJK have dropped from the first spot of the league because of their run of 5 consecutive draws, but according to Muurinen they will fight until the bitter and believe in what they do and start winning again at Lahti. ”Of course it troubles me that we lost the top spot to TPS, but the season is far from over and everything is still in our hands. I know this is a big game for Lahti and we have to be careful with Rafael and Litmanen, and the absence of Medo from our side does not help, but we are ready. ”

Defender Jukka Raitala 19/0 has been linked with Hoffenheim lately and striker Juho Mäkelä was this week at the tests of Serie B Ascoli, but is likely to play against Lahti. Haapala and Medo are missing due injuries of the Helsinki outfit.

FC Lahti: 1 Viktor Szentpeteri 12/0 –15 Jukka Vanninen 17/1 – 12 Toni Huuhka 15/1 - 2 Heikki Haara 16/1 – 6 Kalle Eerola 16/0 - 8 Mohamed Fofana 17/3 - 9 Rafael 17/3 – 11 Drilon Shala 19/5 – 14 Konsta Hietanen 18/0 – 19 Riku Heini 14/0 - 17 Eero Korte 19/2

Bench: 21 Kaarlo Rantanen 8/0, 22 Juha Tuomi (gk) 7/0, 10 Jari Litmanen 10/0, 4 Janne Moilanen 6/0, 20 Jonne Kemppinen 17/2, 13 Jussi Länsitalo 9/2, 3 Henri Toivomäki 17/0

Unavailable: 7 Jukka Veltheim 2/0 for the rest of the season, 16 Jussi Heikkinen 2/0

Coach : Ilkka Mäkelä

HJK: 1 Wille Wallén 19/0 – 3 Mikko Hauhia 18/0 – 5 Jukka Sauso 17/0 – 19 Aki Riihilahti 3/1 – 6 Cheyne Fowler 10/1 – 9 Sebastian Sorsa 19/4 – 10 Juho Mäkelä 19/4 - 13 Pyry Kärkkäinen 19/2 – 14 Valeri Popovits 16/3 – 17 Dawda Bah 18/5 – 20 Jukka Raitala 19/0

Bench: 2 Tuomas Kansikas 5/0, 12 Jani Viander (gk) 0/0, 21 Petri Oravainen 13/0, 26 Johannes Westö 2/0, 27 Mikko Sumusalo 1/0, 28 Nosh A Lody 0/0, 31 Akseli Pelvas 14/4, 32 Sami Salmi 0/0, 16 Jarno Parikka 18/3, 8 Ville Taulo 6/0, 15 Paulus Roiha 3/0, 18 Juhani Ojala 3/0

Unavailable: 7 Tuomas Haapala 6/0, 4 Medo 17/3

Coach : Antti Muurinen

Prediction: For Lahti this is the match not to lose as for HJK it is only a match among others, important only because of the situation in the league. I took Lahti + 0,5 @ 1.82, and feel quite confident about it. After all there is a long time sine HJK has won a game and Lahti are no mugs.

Honka - JJK preview

Honka (3rd)– JJK (12th)

Honka :1-1-3-3-1-3
JJK : 0-3-1-3-0-1

H2H:2-0-0

Last game:23.05.09 JJK – Honka 2-3

EDIT : FT 5-2. Highlights here

Very important match for both teams at different ends of the table. Honka is looking for their first championship ever as JJK is fighting for survival against relegation. Honka won last week easily against Tampere United at home while JJK got a very lucky 1-1 draw visiting HJK in a game where all god of football were on the visitor´s side.

There are happy and confident faces in the Honka camp, ” we have finally some time to make purposeful team training with full strength,” says Honka coach Mika Lehkosuo, ” for a long time we have had two games a week and the trainings have been more or less just recovery and strategy. This week we have worked hard and the aim is the Sunday is the da of the week when we are at our best and we will make it very difficult for JJK. The only thing we need to worry are their counter attacks, but I think we know very well what to expect from JJK.”

The side from Jyväskylä lost to HJK 25-1 in shots
, but went back home with a point for the draw. The new signings have been useful, but do they really possess enough quality to keep to team in the league remains to be seen. What is for sure is that there will be a lot of work to do at Honka if they want to repeat the miracle they did against HJK.

Honka have no injury worries and only defender Sampo Koskinen 14/0 is missing due suspension, but the good news is that mf John Weckström 6/1 returns to the squad after a long absence due injury.

JJK have the best possible players available. The match will kick-off earlier than usual at 14.00 CET because of the UEFA Euro Women starting in Finland this weekend.

Honka: 1 Tuomas Peltonen 14/0 – 20 Nicolas Otaru 16/2 - 13 Ville Koskimaa 10/1 - 5 Henri Aalto 13/0 - 6 Hermanni Vuorinen 19/11 -28 Rasmus Schuller 12/2 - 10 Jami Puustinen 18/4 - 26 Jaakko Lepola 13/4 - 17 Demba Savage 17/4 - 19 Rami Hakanpää 18/2 – 21 Joel Perovuo 19/3

Out: 15 Antto Tapaninen 0/0, 24 Niko Kautto 0/0, 17 Hyun-Kwan Kim 4/0 left the team, 4 Markus Paija 7/0 left the team for KaaPo

Coach: Ville Priha

Prediction: I did my best trying to see some JJK success, bus as this game is my rank 1 vs rank 14 at home with best possible line-ups anf home team in top form I feel even more happy about the fact I already took Honka - 1 @ 2.00.

The class difference is huge, JJK is not even number 14th in my ranking for the whole country, there are 2-3 teams at Ykkönen who are better teams than current JJK.

21.8.2009

Haka - Inter Turku preview

Haka (5th) – Inter (6th)

Haka: 0-0-1-0-1-1
Inter: 1-0-3-3-0-0

H2H:8-5-5

Last game:23.05.09 Inter – Haka 0-2

Haka won last time 7 rounds ago and has been dropping from the top ever since. They have partly run out of luck they had in the early season, and also been hit by injuries and the defense line has changed significantly in the last games due injuries and other reasons. The attacking department is neither in top notch condition, and as a result they deciced to loan Antti Hakala 1/0 from their reserve team, 2nd division SalPa. He did not make huge impact in his first outing at Rovaniemi against RoPS, but is also featuring is this game against Inter Turku.

The good news for coach Olli Huttunen is that defender Markus Joenmäki should be healthty again in will return to the squad, but the missings of defender Diego Corpache 15/1 and mf Mika Mäkitalo 17/2 are difficult to replace, and another defender Petri Viljanen is also doubtful.

Inter
entered the season with high hopes after last season´s surprise championship, but is looking like a team that gets nothing this season, and quite deservedly so. Losing at home to KuPS might be a shock they needed to get, and as there are no injuries and the problems seem to lie on the mental side this is a great chance for Inter to start the season anew and make the last effort to win at least something.

No injury worries for Inter, they loaned one their strikers from the bench to VPS Vaasa to get some valuable experience, but the coach Job Dragtsma has a full squad to choose from.

Haka: 1 Janne Korhonen 19/0 - 20 Sami Ristilä 15/2 - 3 Petri Viljanen 13/0 - 21 Pietari Holopainen 15/5 - 22 Jarno Mattila 19/1 - 6 Sebastian Strandvall 19/5 - 7 Mikko Innanen 19/2 - 11 Antti Hynynen 17/4 - 41 Valeri Minkenen 9/0 - 8 Jani Kauppila 19/0 - 9 Niko Ikävalko 16/3

Bench: 12 Saku Pesonen (gk) 0/0, 18 Jari Nikkilä 16/0, Antti Hakala 1/0, 4 Markus Joenmäki 8/0

Out: 5 Kalle Parviainen 0/0, 15 Nicolas Kivistö 6/0, 28 Hans Denissen 5/0 (freed from contract), 2 Diego Corpache 15/1, 16 Jani Bäckman 8/1 returned to FC Honka, 10 Mika Mäkitalo 17/2

Coach: Olli Huttunen

Inter Turku
: 1 Patrick Bantamoi (gk)17/0 – 6 Jermu Gustafsson 5/0 – 7 Ari Nyman 19/0 – 9 Guillano Grot 13/3 – 11 Timo Furuholm 17/9 – 14 Joni Aho 16/0 – 18 Ats Purje 15/3 – 15 Severi Paajanen 19/0 - 17 Mika Ojala 16/2 - 5 Alberto Ramirez 17/1 - 29 Henri Lehtonen 18/0

Bench: 8 Touko Tumanto 9/0, 21 Pablo Gomez-Marttila 0/0, 27 Kennedy 16/1, 25 Ville Mäkilä 0/0, 26 Felix Åkerlund 0/0, 13 Eemeli Reponen (gk) 2/0, 12 David Monsalve (gk) 1/0, 19 Aristides Pertot 11/0, 22 Sami Sanevuori 12/0, 24 Joni Kauko 15/2, 3 Claudio Verino 13/1, 23 Ville Nikkari 11/0

Out: 20 Arttu Seppälä 1/0 loan to VPS for the rest of the season

Coach: Job Dragtsma

Prediction: Inter not to lose. Value in + 0.25 Inter when the price is over 1.80

KuPS - TamU preview

KuPS (14th)– TamU (7th)

KuPS: 0-1-1-1-3-3
TamU: 3-3-1-0-1-0

H2H:1-4-12

Last game:24.05.09 TamU – KuPS 2-0

KuPS do not like the relegation team anymore and they are unbeaten now since losing to HJK 6 games ago. The new signings have proved to be brilliant findings, especially Nigerian striker Dickson Nwakaeme 4/1 has been the best player on the pitch in all of his games played so far. Still, KuPS are the last in the league and can respect no one and have to go searching for a win against everyone in order to stay in the league. The active and aggressive style of KuPS today has brought a lot of suspensions, from this match there are 3 suspended KuPS players, mf Ollo 15/2, mf Ikudehinbu 6/0 and defender Balogh 14/1.

Since taking charge of KuPS in the middle of the season Esa Pekonen, the KuPS coach, has found the lost joy and self-believed, helped by the implementation of total football, i.e the whole team both attacks and defends as a team, not like a bunch of school kids. The general consensus in the league is that KuPS are too good to get relegated, all they need to do is play their part and gain important points as the end is closer round by round.

Goal-keeper Joonas Pöntinen 4/0 is out injured, but is easily replaced by Ville Iiskola 16/0 who was in charge from the start of the season.

Tampere United have not won in their last three and were completely outplayed at Fc Honka last week, but should be a tough opponent for KuPS as their injury list has shortened round by round and they can field almost best possible starting eleven. Tampere United season has been far from perfect, but as there have been a lot of draws in the league and no team has been able to run off they still have a slight chance of a good position, but it requires also success from their travels.

Chris James 2/1 is going to a knee surgery and Antti Pohja 8/1 is doubtful for the Tampere side.

IFK Mariehamn - TPS Turku preview

IFK Mariehamn (4th) – TPS (1st)

MIFK:1-1-1-1-3-3
TPS: 3-1-1-3-3-3

H2H:4-3-4

Last game:24.05.09 TPS – MIFK 0-0

It was 15 games ago since TPS lost and also IFK Mariehamn are on an unbeaten run of 13 games. No wonder both teams are fighting for the championship, TPS 5 points ahead of IFK who have been less effective in front of the goal and have had had to settle to a low-scoring draw more often. The first encounter of the season at Turku was unsurprisingly goalless and led to TPS coach demanding for goals from his troops, a challenge they have duly responded to.

IFK Mariehamn managed to cut short their run of successive draws and have won now twice in the row, there have been goals from all departments and the absence of injured mf Mika Niskala 16/1 and striker Arsim Gashi 17/1 should not be crucial for their hopes of glory, not at least as long their defense is the tightest in the league.

TPS got both good and bad news this week concerning their talismanic English midfielder Wayne Brown 19/6. He already flew back to London to join his team Fulham as his loan contract with TPS expired as planned, only to be allowed to return after making the loan to last until the end of season and he should be back with TPS already on Saturday at Mariehamn. TPS have been one of the luckiest teams with injuries, and the only long-term patient Mika Ääritalo who is still not yet 100 % fit has showed to possess some super-sub qualities with his speed and experience and has been a dangerous weapon against already tired defenders.

No injury worries for TPS. Simo Valakari 7/0 has been out for a long time but not missed.

Prediction: 0-0. Value in home win 0 at 2.12, but looks like a draw to me. Unfortunately with these odds it can not be covered with asian handicaps.

Weekend bets for Finland

There will more of info of some of the selections later,

but to start with I have picked these;

Veikkausliiga

MYPA - Jaro + 0,5 @ 1.95 (limit 1.79)

Haka - Inter + 0,25 @ 1.94(limit 1.80

IFK Mariehamn 0 @ 2.12 - TPS

Honka -1.5 @ 2 - JJK

KuPS - TamU - 0,25 @ 1.91 after seeing the lineups. Wtf is Ylönen is doing at KuPS starting 11?

If I had to choose only one of these, it would be Honka.

Ykkönen

KooTeePee - PoPa u 2.5 goals @ 1.93

There have been 15 goals in the 10 games that KooTeePee have been hosting this season, 2 out 10 games have been over, and both have been 2-1 wins against the bottom-of-the-league teams. I was surpised to see the line drawn at 2.5!

KPV - 1 @ 1.98 vs FC Hämeenlinna.

This speaks volumes of the level of professionalism in Finnish Football, most players prefer to go and play futsal instead of their own league games. Hämeenlinna are missing a lot of players due futsal and injuries and this trip will be too much to handle. Ok, the futsal tournament is UEFA, but this is not the first time this has happened.

Interested in Atlantis + 0,5 @ 2.12, but there really is no sense in backing the draw as it is no use to Atlantis at the moment. No bet yet, I will see it live.

Kakkonen

KTP - Gnistan -0,25 @ 1.84 (limit 1.75) on Friday

FF Norrvalla - 0,5 - Virkiä @ 2.07 was a value bet too! Limit at 1.98

MYPA - Jaro on TV on Friday night

MYPA (10th) – FF Jaro (11th)

MyPa: 3-0-0-0-3-0
Jaro:0-1-0-1-0-0

H2H: 13-2-4

Last game: 24.05.09 Jaro – MYPA 3-0

EDIT: MYPA have signed a new player from Brazil on loan, and it is up to the officials whether he is playing tonight or not. This target man from Fortaleza has been struggling lately on the bench and is looking for responsibility and goals, his name is José Cleiton Ferreira Júnior aka Cleiton.

MYPA did put up a good fight against IFK Mariehamn last week only to lose 1-2 at home. The return of Antti Okkonen from Belgium seemed to bring more skill and force into the MYPA midfield, but on the negative side important defender Sampsa Timoska got injured and will probably miss the rest of the season. Striker Tosaint Ricketts returns from suspension and MYPA coach Janne Lindberg has a almost full roster of players to choose from.

FF Jaro have won last time in June, and the home loss against FC Lahti seemed to be the last drop for the Jaro board of directors, and they decided to freed coach Mika Laurikainen from his contract ahead of time and replaced him with Alexei Eremenko Sr, a former Jaro – legend and a current coach of second division team JBK. ”Obviously there is very little I can do except for the mental side, ” says Eremenko who finally gets him chance as a Veikkausliiga coach, ” there will be no new players, but I have to get players to believe in themselves and make them feel better and play better. Of course I have my own views of this game and there will probably be some changes in the way we play.”

Jaro have no new injury worries, but the influence of new coach and his ideas of the ideal line-up are difficult to predict and there might be big changes in the line-up. Urmas Rooba was signed from Estonian club Flora for the rest of the season to help with the injuries in the defense.

MYPA: 1 Antti Kuismala 17/0 – 4 Antti Uimaniemi 18/0 – 11 Ilari Äijälä 15/4 – 16 Toni Huttunen 18/1 - 6 Tuomo Könönen 17/0 - 25 Antti Okkonen 1/0 - 13 Toni Lindberg 13/2– 18 Tuomas Aho 17/0 - 7 Ben Webster 17/0 –14 Tosaint Ricketts 13/5 – 2 Miikka Multaharju 16/0

Bench: 5 Jarno Tuunainen 3/0, 15 Ville Oksanen 16/1, 12 Mika Johansson (gk) 1/0, 23 Niko Nakari 6/0, 17 Einari Kurittu 1/0, 8 Ady 11/2, 9 Saku Puhakainen 18/1, 24 Nebi Mustafi 11/1
Unavailable: 20 Felipe Benevedes 2/0 (loan to MP), 19 Maxim Votinov 12/2 (loan to MP), 22 Roope Rautiainen 0/0 loan to (MP), 3 Sampsa Timoska 8/0
Coach : Janne Lindberg

Jaro: 1 Markus Koljander 16/0 – 6 Janne Vellamo 16/0 - 5 Kristian Kojola 19/2 – 2 Jani Tanska 19/1 - 20 Tillman Grove 2/0 – 10 Jonas Emet 18/3 – 17 Petter Meyer 18/3 - 18 Mikko Hyyrynen 17/3 – 19 Sebastian Mannström 19/4 – 22 Jens Portin 18/0 – 23 Joonas Laurikainen 19/3

Bench: 30 Jesse Öst 0/0, 11 Jani Koivisto 10/1, 13 Jani Sarajärvi 5/0, 26 Tommi Haanpää 2/0, 12 Vitali Teles (gk) 2/0, 9 Björn-Erik Sundqvist 7/1, 27 Urmas Rooba 1/0, 16 Papa Niang 17/2

Unavailable: 8 Jari Sara 0/0, 21 Daniel Fellman 8/0, 7 Marco Matrone 14/1, 3 Heikki Aho 8/0

Coach : Alexei Eremenko Sr

Prediction: Bettingwise a tough nut, my rough estimation being 44-29-27. This season MYPA have lost against Jaro 3-0 and 5-0 and if Jaro scores the first goal of the game it might bring back some dark memories. I do rate Jaro as a better team and I am tempted to take them with a handicap, but of course a team without a win in 9 last games is not that hot and there are doubts. Knowing the style and skills of Eremenko is encouraging though, and as the problems of Jaro have lately been on the mental side I can imagine a Jaro full of fighting spirit on Friday. A well-earned point is on the cards, look out for Jaro + 0,5 @ 1.95. The late news of a brazilian target player do not change my estimation the slightest, the only player who has come to Veikkausliiga in the middle of the season and been fit is Dickson at KuPS.

Jari Litmanen wishes Barcelona all the best

In an interview ahead of Sweden - Finland Mundo Deportivo talked with Jari Litmanen, the Finnish footballing legend.

During his spell he did not have the time and the chance to convince all of Catalunya, but I was personally at Camp Nou around the Millennium, and saw him score against Racing, or some other team of similar quality. All eyes were on the home team. Jari scoring was received by immediate applauds and signs of joy and respect, and it is very unfortunate for Jari himself that he did born Finnish as he never had any chance for success with the national team. Now, at 38 the career is closing to an end. What a career! Thanks Jari.

OPA - Santa Claus on Wednesday

I know this bet looks a bit funny for anyone outside the country and it is difficult to make it fit in the scale if we think about a regular match in any given league.

However, I took OPA - 2.75 @ 1.70 with ease in mind. The price does not look too good or the handicap too easy to beat, but the quality gap at Kakkonen between top teams and bottom teams is huge. We have to forget all professional leagues when we analyze Kakkonen.

Especially when it involves travel during midweek after a long day at work.

OPA do even have some injury problems, which is equalled by Santa Claus having according to different sources up to 4 players suspended from this game. I say different sources because the official source updates the official stats like a caveman would do.

OPA is a professional team with strong desire to get promoted, Santa Claus is a mixture of ex-players and future hopes from even one division lower, and for them travel is no fun.

Looking forward to a comfortable 3,4 - 0. OPA have scored only two goals at home this season twice.

EDIT: FT 1-0. I know they did this just to piss me off.

EDIT2: The match reports say is was the worst home game this season, the absentees of OPA were more important than I thought and throughout the game there was no speed, no action, nothing and Santa Claus should have equalized in the end.

FF Jaro fires coach Mika Laurikainen

After a run of 9 games without a win FF Jaro decided to show Laurikainen the boot. He himself had declared earlier in the summer that this is the last season for him at Jaro, and the firing should not be a surprise after getting poor results.

Jaro have already signed a new coach for next season, a Jaro legend Alexei Eremenko Sr, and he will most likely step up already in this stage and can start building his team for newt season way ahead of scheduled time.

All in all, this is good news for Jaro, and Laurikainen - a promising coach who most probably has a new job lined up for him - got exactly what he asked for.

Jaro - Lahti preview

FF Jaro (11th) – FC Lahti (9th)

Jaro:0-0-1-0-1-0
Lahti: 1-1-1-3-0-0

H2H: 7-4-8
Last game: 17.05.09 Lahti – Jaro 2-1

FF Jaro from Pietarsaari are in the middle of an awful streak and have played last eight games without a win. Lahti are not doing especially well either, having been kicked out of the Europe League by Brugge their only chance for securing a spot for European competition for next season seems to be the Finland Cup.

Jaro lost an important derby game last week against VPS 1-3 , and there is very little to achieve in the league for them, as there should be no danger of relegation but also the top spots are too far away. Jaro have announced a new manager for next season, a Russian legend Alexei Eremenko Sr, and it is perhaps time for Jaro to start looking well ahead for the next season and start putting the pieces together. Jaro signed defender Armas Rooba from Flora Tallinn for the rest of the season to help Jaro with the injuries.

Jonas Emet 18/3 is suspended from Jaro, Sara, Fellman, Matrone, and Aho are also still unavailable. Tillman Grove 1/0 returns from suspension.

Lahti won Viikingit on Wednesday in the Cup after extra time, and did not get the rest they needed. They have been poor travellers for the whole season, and while there are a lot of doubtful players with minor knocks and injuries – at least Toivomäki 17/0, Moilanen 6/0 and Korte 18/2 - on top of the long-term patients the line-up of Lahti is not going to be the best possible, especially the defence looks very vulnerable.

Jaro: 1 Markus Koljander 15/0 – 6 Janne Vellamo 15/0 - 5 Kristian Kojola 18/2 – 2 Jani Tanska 18/1 - 20 Tillman Grove 1/0 – 16 Papa Niang 17/2 – 17 Petter Meyer 17/3 - 18 Mikko Hyyrynen 16/3 – 19 Sebastian Mannström 18/4 – 22 Jens Portin 17/0 – 23 Joonas Laurikainen 18/3

Unavailable: 7 Jukka Veltheim 2/0 for the rest of the season, 16 Jussi Heikkinen 2/0

Prediction: A time for a Jaro win, need to check the handicaps and prices later. No early bets for this, it will also be broadcasted live.

MYPA - MIFK preview

MYPA (10th) – MIFK (4th)

MyPa: 0-3-0-0-0-3
MIFK:1-1-1-1-1-3
H2H: 3-5-3
Last game 17.05.09 MIFK – MYPA 0-0

The current MYPA and ex-MIFK goalkeeper Antti Kuismala saved MYPA a point when the teams last met in May in Mariehamn. This Sunday another low-scoring game is to be expected, thoug MIFK managed to cut their streak of draws by winning RoPS at home 2-1 last week. Also MYPA managed to get all three points against FC Lahti with a new line-up of more fresh legs and attitude, and they are looking forward to climbing higher in the table. MYPA receives back midfielder Antti Okkonen from Belgium after 6 years spent as a professional abroad, and he helps to give MYPA more creativity, though a lack a match-fitness is a questionmark as there are some three months since his last game.

Striker Tosaint Ricketts 13/5 is suspended, but no injury worries for MYPA.

MIFK have still alive their dreams of the title after finally winning a game and they are only 5 points behind top-duo HJK and TPS. The surprise package from Mariehamn have been very solid and tight in defense for the whole season, but this game they will have to do without injured midfielder Mika Niskala 16/1, who is one the key figures of MIFK. MIFK are desperate for a win, but then the strikers young Wilhelm Ingves, Sasha Anttilainen and Arsim Gashi would finally shape up and take a step further, as the best goal-scorer so far is midfielder Tamas Gruburovics with 5 goals so far. MYPA have scored 18 goals and MIFK 19 goals so far this season after 18 rounds, and any other result than a goalless draw would be a nice surprise.

MYPA: 1 Antti Kuismala 16/0 – 4 Antti Uimaniemi 17/0 – 11 Ilari Äijälä 14/3 – 16 Toni Huttunen 17/1 - 6 Tuomo Könönen 16/0 - 24 Nebi Mustafi 11/1 - 3 Sampsa Timoska 7/0 – 18 Tuomas Aho 16/0 - 7 Ben Webster 16/0 – 9 Saku Puhakainen 17/1 – 2 Miikka Multaharju 16/0

RoPS - Haka preview

RoPS (13th)– Haka (5th)

RoPS: 0-3-3-0-0-0
Haka: 3-0-0-1-0-1

H2H:0-5-14

Last game 17.05.09 Haka – RoPs 3-1

RoPS fought well at Mariehamn last week, only to return home to Lapland with no points as they are used from their travels. RoPS have lost their four games, and coach Mika Lumijärvi knows exactly why,” basically there are only two reasons. We are unefficent in front of the goal, and then out defence is leaking too much,” he says ironically. ”These things go hand if hand, if you do not score, then you are likely to lose.”

RoPS signed a Nigerian strieker Jeremieh Ani, and according to the news from the training pitch he might be a solution to goal scoring problems.

Simwanza and Ikäläinen are suspended, but there are no major injuries in the RoPS camp.

It has not been that easy for Haka either lately, from their last five games they have drawn twice and lost three times and are a way from the top spot the occupied in the first half of the season. Haka will also make the long trip without a bunch of important players and especially Haka defence need to reconstructed, ” Joenmäki, Nikkilä, Mäkitalo, Corpache, Hoikkala and Kivistö are absent for sure, ” says Haka coach Olli Huttunen, ” and some others are also doubtful. Our starting eleven will be almost of full – strength, but i do not know who are going to be sitting on the subs bench, ” worries Huttunen.

VPS - TPS preview

VPS (8th) – TPS (2nd)

VPS: 1-0-3-0-3-3

TPS: 1-3-1-1-3-3
H2H: 3-7-10

Last game 17.05.09 TPS – VPS 2-0
Two teams in top form meet at Vaasa on Sunday when VPS host TPS Turku nad try to narrow the 8 points lead by TPS. Last week at the so called derby round both managed to get a win, VPS 1-3 against local rivals Jaro and TPS quite easily thrashed Inter Turku 2-0. ”For me this is a bit of a special game”, says TPS defender Iiro Aalto, ” because my brother Jussi plays for VPS. No mercy will be given from either of us, and VPS is definitely one of the best home teams in the league and we need to give 100 % to get a good result, ” he continues.
TPS have no injury worries ahead of the game except long-term patient Simo Valakari, but for their talismanic help from Fulham midfielder Wayne Brown this is the last game at TPS as his loan expires and Brown returns to Fulham after the trip to Vaasa.

VPS know exactly how well TPS Turku hve played lately and how strong they are mentally after a long and succesful run;” We need to get the best of us to win”, admits VPS striker Antonio Inutile, ” we need to be aggressive, tight in the defence and keep the ball on the ground. It is time to be brave and challenge them with their own weapons. Our performances have been the best for us for years, and we will continue with attacking football also against TPS.”
No new injury worries for VPS.

HJK - JJK preview

HJK(1st) – JJK (12th)

HJK: 3-3-1-1-1-1
JJK : 0-0-3-1-3-0

H2H: 2-1-0

Last game 17.05.09 JJK – HJK 1-1

HJK have drawn their last four games and are now sharing the top spot with TPS Turku. Against Honka they were outplayed by the home team despite the fact that they were playing most of the game against 10 men after an early red card for Honka. They have lost a grip of almost certain- looking championship, and the suspensions of important defender Jukka Sauso 17/0 and winger Dawda Bah 18/5 do not help at all. On the other hand the injury list is about to shorten as Ville Taulo and Paulus Roiha are regaining match-fitness, and also HJK legend Aki Riihilahti who returned to HJK after some 10 years abroad gets better match by match.

The most promising player of the team Jukka Raitala is rumoured to transfer to Hoffenheim, but he is likely to start as a left back against JJK.

Early season JJK managed to snap a draw from their visitors from Helsinki and since then JJK have strengthened their team with striker Georgi Hristov and defender Dejan Brankovic who is likely the feature in this game for the first time wearing JJK shirt. The current form of KuPS at the relegation battle leaves JJK no room for giving out any points, and they will until the bitter end for every ball in this David vs Goliath – game at a HJK reserve pitch of Pallokentta; HJK usual home ground Finnair Stadium is reserved for Women Euro 2009 starting next week in Helsinki, Turku, Lahti and Tampere.

No injury worries for JJK.

HJK: 1 Wille Wallén 18/0 – 3 Mikko Hauhia 17/0 – 4 Mohamed Kamara 16/3 – 19 Aki Riihilahti 2/0 – 6 Cheyne Fowler 9/1 – 9 Sebastian Sorsa 18/4 – 10 Juho Mäkelä 18/4 - 13 Pyry Kärkkäinen 18/2 – 14 Valeri Popovits 16/3 – 18 Juhani Ojala 2/0 – 20 Jukka Raitala 18/0

Coach: Ville Priha

Prediction:Bah has been the best player of the league so far, and missing him might just be crucial as HJK is lacking creativity. The only player capable of killing the match for HJK is another winger Sebastian Sorsa, but it will easier for JJK now as they need to concentrate only in defending the right wing. No picks yet.

Honka - TamU preview

Honka (3rd)– TamU (7th)

Highlights from Honka TV, here 1st half, 2nd half from the right

Honka :1-1-1-3-3-1
TamU: 3-3-3-1-0-1

H2H: 4-2-6

Last game 17.05.09 TamU – Honka 1- 0

Honka have lost only twice this season, away at Inter and away at Tampere after a dismal performance where TamU outplayed Honka completely. Lately Honka have found their form and are probably the best team in the country at the moment. In the top-match against HJK last week Honka controlled the game until the direct red card for defender Sampo Koskinen who is now suspended, and then fought their way to equalize the match with only 10 men. ”I am proud of my players”, says Honka coach Mika Lehkosuo”, ”we played fantastic football until the dismissal of Koskinen and it is sad we did not see what would have happened without it in this show, after all we had the best goal scoring opportunities in the game.”

Midfielder Nicholas Otaru replaced Koskinen at left back and did an outstanding job, it might not be a huge surprise if he continues in this game as a defender.
Sampo Koskinen 13/0 is the only absentee apart from the long-term patients.

Tampere United have improved a lot from the early season, but not yet enough to fight for a spot at top-three. ”We have played way too many draws this season, and against Haka last week we were the much better team on the pitch, but seems that all the penalties in our games are awarded against us,” moans TamU coach Ari Hjelm while talking about last week´s 1-1 draw against Haka, ” everything else was ok, except the last decisive passes, I am not satisfied for where are now”, he continues.

TamU welcomed back important mf Antti Pohja 7/1 from the injury list already for the Haka game, and the health and match fitness of the team is probably at the best level so far this season.

Last season this encounter was perhaps the decisive loss for Honka´s title hopes as they lost 3-4 after a dramatic game, and as they have also lost the first match of the season there is a lot of revenge feeling at the Honka camp on Saturday.

Honka: 1 Tuomas Peltonen 13/0 – 20 Nicolas Otaru 15/2 - 13 Ville Koskimaa 9/1 - 5 Henri Aalto 12/0 - 6 Hermanni Vuorinen 18/11 -14 Jussi Vasara 18/2 - 10 Jami Puustinen 17/4 - 26 Jaakko Lepola 12/4 - 17 Demba Savage 16/2 - 19 Rami Hakanpää 17/1 – 21 Joel Perovuo 18/3

Chinese betting methods?

I just had to copy this from bettingadvice for future reference.

So I am not the chinese fellow, clip clip
-----------------------------------------------

"Hello. I am from China. I am a big fan of this forum. Every match day I come here to catch lately information for betting. It is very helpful. Many time I wanted to say something but I never did because of my poor English.
Football betting is very popular in China, especially south China and Macau,HongKong. The most popular methods of analysing a match is quite different from European friends here as I see. I will give some example here:

1."The hot must die"
In China, the most famous football motto is "大热必死",translate directly,"The hot one must die". After Brazil lost to France at 98 World Cup,many people think that gambling companys are not charity organization, if a team gets a huge number of money bet on it(we call it "hot"),they will do "something" to make the opposite result so they can get much more money and avoid the risk. In that way,you should stand against to the public. I don`t think so but many many ones do. Many "professional tipsters" always tell us this. Most people do not care about how the teams play, just try their best to find out which one is "hot" and bet the opposite.
For example:One prediction for Aug 3 Lyn and Brann`s game, its main argument is that until now Brann had already attracted 2.5 million money and 89% of the transaction volume, this unreason hot is very danger,so pick Lyn(+0.5).

2.odd tells something
Many people believe that some gambling company will know the most likely result of some matches and a clever guy will get the gambling company`s attitude by reading the odds!So every strange odd from some gambling company is telling something in experts`eyes.
For example:One prediction for Aus 5 (Brazil)Cruzeiro and Atletico Paranaense:now odds from WilliamHill home 1.44 is lower than many others when draw 3.8 higher,it meams WillHill underestimate Atletico Paranaense and prefer Cruzeiro, why not we just trust WilliamHill, pick
Cruzeiro(handicap) .

3.odds combination
On the other hand, gambling company`s attitude is shown on their "odds combination"?! Can you believe this,at least many Chinese gamblers do. They are always busy doing the odds combination statistics.
For example:One prediction for Aus 5 (Brazil)Sao Paulo & Botafogo:For this game,WilliamHill`s 1X2 is 1.57 3.50 5.00. The same odds combination is given 21 times in Brazil league recently, home win 17,draw 4 without an away win record. Pick Sao Paulo.

4.the most incredible way:trend analyse
I don`t really understand this. I will try my best to explain it. That kind of "expert" analyse a football match just like analysing a stock price. They almost only care about when the odd how change. In an exaggerated story, someone may say "I support home when odd is 1.90,if it drops to 1.80 later then I will change my mind, but if it drops further to 1.70 I will pick home again". Of course that means nothing to me. Maybe I am too stupid to find out the different meanings behind different decimal numbers.

Those are the most popular ways of analysing a football match in south China as I know. What do you think about it? Good Luck to everyone."

Inter - KuPS preview

Inter (6th)– KuPS (14th)

Inter: 1-1-0-3-3-0
KuPS: 3-0-1-1-1-3

H2H:6-6-3

Last game 18.05.09 KuPS – Inter 0-2

Inter did lose an the important derby against TPS last week 2-0 but have a new chance on Friday to come back for competition of european spots for next season. The teams have met once this season, and after a couple of silly mistakes by KuPS defenders Inter finally got an undeserved 0-2 away win from Kuopio. There were 5 Inter players on international duty this midweek which has messed up the preparations for this important game, but Inter coach Job Dratgsma is hopeful ahead of the game;” it has not been an optimal way of preparations this week, but if we can play on our level we should win this, ” he says. ”TPS – match was not good from us and we need to concentrate on with the possession of ball and creating goal chances. Most of our players failed last week, but I am expecting something much better on Friday.”

Inter line-up will not be announced before Friday as all the players have not yet returned from international duty, but before the internationals the injury situation at Inter was very good.

KuPS did win a crucial survival game at JJK last week, but otherwise the week was an expensive one for the side from Kuopio. Important mf Segun Ikudehinbu took a direct red card against JJK and will two games due suspension, but the more disastreous blow for KuPS´ hopes of survival came from the cabinets of the Football Association, as they declared the win against RoPS earlier this summer to be lost! The reason for changing the result comes from the additional information from Nigerian FA, who have now announced that important Dickson Nwakaeme who played against RoPS in his debut game after being signed in the middle of season from Nigeria, should not have been let to play. This leads KuPS to drop to the final spot of the league 4 points a drift.

KuPS are missing def Patrik Turunen 14/0 due injury and Segun Ikudehinbu 6/0 due suspension.

Coach: Esa Pekonen

Prediction: A home win is the most likely outcome, I agree with everyone. But not the prices! Inter have scoring difficulties, they had pleyers away most of the week, their form is missing and KuPS have improved round by round. Definitely value in away team with handicap. Pick KuPS + 1.25 @ 1.97

Off for the weekend and the start of the week!

At the races.

No updates, no replies, no extra, no estimations. A weekend off football, well needed.

The service regarding european leagues will start fully from next week, but it is only partly public.

Edit: It was enjoyable to be a couple of days away from the computer but i am pretty much back in business now. If nothing else before that there will be Veikkausliiga previews for the weekend to come soon.

TPS - Inter preview

TPS (2nd) - FC Inter (5th)

TPS: 3-1-3-1-1-3 -----Inter: 0-1-1-0-3-3

H2H: 6-5-8

Last game 14.05.2009 Inter - TPS 2-0

The biggest derby of the country awaits! Both teams are in good form, they share the same stadion, a big crowd is expected and the stakes are high. With a win TPS have a chance to declare the top spot for themselves as they are only 1 point behind HJK in the table. Inter have had the edge in this derby lately and basically made fun of TPS, but as the performances on the pitch have shown a new TPS this season they are the favourites in this big match on Sunday at Veritas.

Last time against Tampere United TPS needed full 93 minutes to finally score and win 1-0, but there were chances for ten more goals in the game and especially the TPS midfield was very creative, only to see their strikers waste all the chances time after time. All of this was naturally helped by the early red card of TamU, but nevertheless, with these preformances TPS have shown that they belong to the top. Another evidence of that is the unbeaten run of 11 games for TPS.

Inter Turku have regained self-confidence and match-fitness and took an easy home win 4-0 on RoPS´s expense. All the pieces seem to be finally together again and the reigning champions are ready to defend their title after a long and bad spell during the season.

”We have to be careful not to get too excited”, reminds TPS defender Iiro Aalto, ” this is the biggest game of the season for both teams, we know each other´s very well and even there is no real hatred between the teams, but huge rivalry anyway. After all, this is only one game of many where there are 3 points available, but it feels very important”.

Both teams have best available squads to choose from and will probaly start the game with unchanged line-ups from last week.

honka - HJK preview

FC Honka (3rd) – HJK (1st)

Honka :3-1-1-1-3-3 ------------ HJK: 3-3-3-1-1-1

H2H:5-5-3
Last game 14.05.2009 1-1

Fc Honka have been travelling to and from Azerbaidzan this week and were eliminated from the Europe league against Qarabag with a 3-1 aggregate. The result is a disappointment for their big european hopes and the trip has been a long one. They need be fresh wnd woken up already on Sunday when they meet HJK in the Helsinki Metropolitan Area derby.
”We played well in Azerbaidzan and had our chances, but as always, it the goals that decide,” says disappointed and tired Honka coach Mika Lehkosuo. ” All the credit for the Azeris for the good game and good luck to them, next we will give our 100 % against HJK at home.”

HJK defender and one of the most promising players of the country, Jukka Raitala knows the importance of the game,” we have rested and trained properly and of course, we have the advantage of travelling only 10 kilometres here when Honka are returning from Asia,” he says, ” but it is for certain that there will be tension and excitement and hunger in this derby, and we want a revenge from their last minute equalizer when we met last time in Helsinki.

Honka will miss only Aleksandr Kokko 13/0 and long-term absentees Paatelainen and Weckström. Jaakko Lepola 11/4 who missed the Qarabaq-game will return.
HJK are probably still without Medo 14/2, Ville Taulo 5/0, Paulus Roiha 3/0 and Tuomas Haapala 6/0, but Aki Riihilahti will be in better match-fitness after a long absence and having played at Mariehamn for the first time in months.

Honka: 1 Tuomas Peltonen 11/0 - 2 Sampo Koskinen 12/0 - 13 Ville Koskimaa 8/1 - 5 Henri Aalto 10/0 - 6 Hermanni Vuorinen 16/11 -14 Jussi Vasara 16/1 - 10 Jami Puustinen 15/4 - 26 Jaakko Lepola 11/4 - 17 Demba Savage 14/2 - 19 Rami Hakanpää 15/1 – 21 Joel Perovuo 16/2

HJK: 1 Wille Wallén 16/0 – 3 Mikko Hauhia 15/0 – 5 Jukka Sauso 15/0 - Aki Riihilahti – 6 Cheyne Fowler 7/1 – 9 Sebastian Sorsa 16/4 – 10 Juho Mäkelä 16/4 - 13 Pyry Kärkkäinen 16/2 – 14 Valeri Popovits 14/3 – 17 Dawda Bah 16/5 – 20 Jukka Raitala 16/0

Unavailable:15 Paulus Roiha 3/0, 4 Mohamed Kamara 14/2, 7 Tuomas Haapala 6/0, 8 Ville Taulo 5/0 ?

Coach : Antti Muurinen

Prediction: Bettingwise a tough one. I think the bookies are putting too much on the fact that Honka have travelled. They have enough fresh feet in the roster to challenge HJK seriously, and HJK have also almost 100 % new midfield. Probably no bet, looks like another 1-1 though.

FC Lahti - MYPA preview

FC Lahti (9th) – MYPA (11th)

Lahti: 3-1-1-1-3-0
MyPa: 0-0-3-0-0-0
H2H:5-4-9
Last game 14.05.2009 2-2

FC Lahti got kicked out of the Europe League on Thursday against Belgian Brugge with a 4-3 aggregate and they can now fully concentrate on the domestic league as their historical european adventures are over for this season. No team could be more welcomed than their local rivals MYPA. Both teams find the themselves from the bottom of the league, having gained 22 and 19 points respectively. Also the goal differences are almost equal, and the games between them have been even and low-scoring in recent years.

The games against Club Brugge were extremely useful, thinks Lahti legend Jari Litmanen after the game on Thursday, ” Unfortunately we could score another goal and go through to the next round, but we got them almost into the panic for the last minutes of the game. Too bad the header from Shala missed the target. These were very useful for us and a learning experience because these are much tougher games than in the domestic league. Everyone from our team must learn from these and want more of them in the future, but now the next important game is on Sunday against MYPA.”

MYPA have been loaning their younger players back and forth to Kakkonen teams MP and KTP in order to give them responsibility and valuable minutes on the pitch. Now it is turn to change the strikers, Maxim Votinov 12/2 will be replaced by Einari Kurittu 0/0 in hoping that someone from the team would find the net. The general feeling at MYPA is not too high, there is almost nothing to gain in the league except staying up anymore, and perhaps passing local rivals FC Lahti.

No new injury worries for neither teams, MYPA is changigng the younger personnel but no one of them have played any bigger role so far.

MIFK - RoPS preview

IFK Mariehamn (6th) – RoPS (13th)

MIFK:1-1-1-1-1-1 --------------- RoPS: 3-0-3-3-0-0

H2H:3-1-2

Last game 10.05.2009 0-0

IFK Mariehamn are breaking all the records this season, they have lost only once so far, but also their draw last week against HJK was 6th in a row! If they draw this one it will the record in Finnish football, and looks very likely that they they have a good chance against RoPS who have been awful on their travels managing to collect only 1 point so far and that came early season at JJK.
”We have probably been trying too hard lately and we are not relaxed enough to score”, ponders IFK midfielder Tamas Gruburovics, who himself has scored alreay 5 times this season, ” but we were much than HJK in our last 0-0 draw at home and we should had won them quite easily. Let´s hope that our good form continues on Sunday against RoPS and that we score early which would relax us and improve our game.”
IFK will get striker Sasha Anttilainen back from injury, but he is unlikely to start because of lack of match-fitness.

RoPS tried their luck last time at Inter Turku with a 5 man defense line, and it worked quite well for the first 30 minutes. Then Inter found the holes in the defense and had tired the RoPS midfield so well, that it was quite easy for them to score four goals in the space of 30 minutes. RoPS coach Mika Lumijärvi is speechless about the situation;” We have trained the defense, we are concentrating on it to make it work nothing seems to help while we are away from Rovaniemi. Trip to Mariehamn will be a very challenging one for us.”
RoPS will get back Ville Syväjärvi 13/0, Janne Turpeeniemi 11/0 and Mika-Matti Maisonvaara 14/1 who were unavailable last time around for varied reasons, but will be missing Christopher Musonda 17/3 due to suspension.

Haka: 1-3-0-0-1-0

H2H:7-6-6

Last game 17.05.2009 Haka - TamU 1-0

Mikko Kavén, the Tampere United goalie kept his net empty for almost 6 whole games after his return, but the TPS penalty on the 93rd minute of the game was too much even for him to handle. TamU have slowly found their act together, and as the other top teams also lose points quite oftern TamU is still competing for top spots after a disastreous start of the season. Now when the injury worries are easing up they have other reasons for absentees, Juska Savolainen returns to Rosenborg after his loan spell and is probably coming back after the negotiations in Norway, but will not play against Haka in this derby for sure, and Sakari Saarinen is suspended.

Haka lost embarrissingly to JJK at home 2-4, a result which is is likely to make coach Olli Huttunen slightly nervous for his own future. Not only because of the result but also for the performance which was plain horror. Haka was better in no section of the pitch, they have not won for 4 games and trip to nearby Tampere is probably the toughest one they can think of.

There have been fever and flu in the Haka camp and while Hynynen and Joenmäki on the recovery there are other players who are about the get sick. The only absentee for sure is important defender Diego Corpache who will miss rest of the season due injury.

Midweek Pick for Ykkönen - goals galore at Vuosaari!

A goalfest is not really needed, I would happily settle for 3 goals in this derby between FC Viikingit – PK-35 tonight in the ‘rough’ Eastern suburbs of Helsinki.

Like all of my picks, this one is based on a combination of performances on the pitch and statistics. I have seen both teams play, improve, develop and get thrashed over the years, also this season.

Ykkönen is fundamentally a league where scoring has always been a problem and under 2.5 – goals at any given match is the more likely outcome. The reasons are varied, but to cut a long story short it is down to the fact that attacking is more difficult than defending and all the promising goal-scorers have moved elsewhere as Ykkönen is not the most visible or financially rewarding of the leagues, yet it is demanding and requires commitment from the players, in stark contrast to Kakkonen or the lower divisions.

Viikingit have done well results wise lately, and are one of the promotion favourites in Ykkönen this season. They are one of the teams with some capability and desire to go forward, and as the only 100 % local challenger to the mighty HJK they are also widely expected to return to Veikkausliiga. This season they are unbeaten at home – a fact that also might suggest taking a home win here – and they have scored at least twice in their last five home games, the exception being the nowadays quite resilient Atlantis team that PK-35 know very well by now after their last two contests.

Neither of the teams’ goal statistics over all this season points out that there would be any more goals than usual, which forces me to look further and find the head-to-head stats which I usually would not bother even considering relevant.

24.06.09 Ykkönen PK-35 Vantaa vs. FC Viikingit 1:2
06.09.08 Ykkönen PK-35 Vantaa vs. FC Viikingit 1:2
15.06.08 Ykkönen FC Viikingit vs. PK-35 Vantaa 5:2
27.07.06 Ykkönen FC Viikingit vs. PK-35 Vantaa 2:1
01.06.06 Ykkönen PK-35 Vantaa vs. FC Viikingit 0:5
01.09.05 Ykkönen PK-35 Vantaa vs. FC Viikingit 2:0
09.06.05 Ykkönen FC Viikingit vs. PK-35 Vantaa 0:1

Keeping in mind that this is a fiery derby, the fact that Viikingit have found the net with ease and PK-35’s defence looked poor and injury-riddled when they were hit by a goal machine called Atlantis (1-5), I cannot but wonder the line of 2.25 for total goals.

Recommendation:

Viikingit – PK35 over 2.25 goals at 1.83

For you dear readers out there who are not familiar with Asian Handicap Betting, an explanation of the bet; over 2.25 is a combination of two bets, over 2 and over 2.5.

If there are 2 goals in the game, I will lose one half and get the stake back from the other half. To win this I need 3 goals or more, it does not matter which teams scores as it is a match total.

FF Jaro (10th) - VPS (8th) Vaasa 6.8.09 preview

Jaro:1-0-0-1-0-1 VPS: 0-1-0-3-0-3

H2H: 5-5-10

Last game 13.5.2009 VPS-Jaro 1-2

Jaro is having a bad spell and last time they won a game was 14.6 at home against RoPS. After that is has been more quiet in Pietarsaari. One of the reasons has been the announcement of the current manager Mika Laurikainen that he is leaving the club after this season. Another one is the narrow roster of FF Jaro and they are really suffering when injuries occur. What has been unmentioned is that they have also had the toughest possible matches lately against top teams and also been slightly unlucky. Jaro is still a decent team with good results at home, and the poor run of results lately means nothing in a derby game like this one against VPS Vaasa.

Jaro´s new signing from Germany Tillman Grove 1/0 managed to get two yellow cards in his first game and is suspended, but the good news for Jaro is that Jens Portin 16/0 returns from suspension. Janne Vellamo has also recoverd from fever which kept him out last at last week´s 2-2 at KuPS.

The trend of VPS was completely different from Jaro but the results have been more unstable lately. They won 1-0 last week against FC Lahti who fielded mostly second-best players due to their Europe League match, but on their last trip Honka gave them no mercy at VPS was defeated by 3-0.

VPS injury list of the key players consists only of Jyrki Saranpää 14/1 and Toni Hahto 12/0, otherwise the team is healty and ready to challenge their dear neighbours at Pietarsaari.

Jaro: 1 Markus Koljander 14/0 – 6 Janne Vellamo 15/0 - 5 Kristian Kojola 17/2 – 2 Jani Tanska 17/1 - 10 Jonas Emet 17/3 – 16 Papa Niang 16/2 – 17 Petter Meyer 16/2 - 18 Mikko Hyyrynen 15/3 – 19 Sebastian Mannström 17/4 – 22 Jens Portin 16/0 – 23 Joonas Laurikainen 17/3

Coaches: Juha Reini & Petri Vuorinen

Bettinwise this is a tough nut. VPS was offered too big odds in the earlies - well, the markets reacted that way but personally I am not that sure - and is now seen as a -0,25 underdog.

The name of the game is that Jaro will wait and bite their time for counter attacks, if there will be any as VPS is hardly the most creative of teams... and both might settle for a draw. Unless it was not with this derby thing, stats show a lot of goals in this fixture. I will keep out of this unless there are dramatic market movements.
