League cup 1/8-finals odds

All the favourites prices have dropped down to ridiculous levels. These ones below I copied this morning are not available anywhere, but if you fancy an underdog bet they are all value at the moment.

There is
JJK + 0,5 @ 2.03
VPS + 0,25 @ 1.85
Oulu + 0,5 @ 2.14
Jaro + 1 @ 2.16

Wonder how much they are going to still rise?

Finland League Cup quarter finals 31st March 2010

Nice to get finally some matches in which both teams are fully motivated. The winners go to the semifinals which are played 7th April and the losers need to organize another friendly or two before the season starts. The kick-off times are again a bit early, do not get fooled by them. All times CET. If the FT result is a draw after 90 minutes the match will be decided right away by penalty kicks. No extra time.

HJK - FF Jaro at 16.00

First match of the season at Finnair Stadium and first home match of HJK this season outdoors. A couple of months ago HJK looked ready for the season, they produced good results in the friendlies and in the League Cup and introducing young talents into the squad seemed to be working. HJK material is and was a bit thin however, and the injuries of important central def. Matias Lindström and striker Akseli Pelvas along with long-term injured Jarno Parikka, Janne Saarinen and Sebastian Sorsa (?) have forced HJK to sign new players from abroad. Djurgården IF central def Peter Magnusson will start already tomorrow vs Jaro, and a Dutch striker from Fulham reserves is also on his way.

Jaro on the other hand had been doomed for relegation as they always are in the season previews and several players left the club after last season. The manager Alexei Eremenko Sr. has done excellent job with low-profile players, and the stunt of loaning his son Alexei Eremenko Jr and another player (Ivory Coast player Zézé) from Ukrainian club Metallist Harkov might do the trick of survival. They do have a lot of talent in Sebastian Mannström as well, and the new recruit Maksim Vasiljev from Russia as a central defender seems to be an impressive figure. Not all the starting eleven players are really up to Veikkausliiga standards, and if HJK find and make use of Jaro´s weaknesses Jaro will struggle big time.

The key in this match is again how HJK attack works, or does it? Dawda Bah on the left wing is the key man and in the absence(?) of Sorsa also pretty much the only fast and creative player in the line-up. Another question is who is going to score the goals, the only 1st team striker available is Juho Mäkelä and while he is fully capable of scoring if properly served he has also the tendency of being the invisible man. Zacharias Kibona might be the other option and he is a promising fellow, but unexperienced on this level. HJK are the favourites, but if they win it is not going to be as easy as the bookies will let us believe. Last week HJK faced FC Lahti and lost 4-1 when the had chosen to leave some important players (Bah and Medo) out of the starting line-up. Not even the mighty HJK can afford to do that.

No bets yet. Home favourite

JJK – TPS at 16.00

JJK made TPS´ life difficult already last season with a much weaker side and this is not going to be a stroll in park either for the club from Turku. TPS striker Babatunde Wusu returns to Jyväskylä and will get a warm welcome. In the last round TPS took an easy 0-3 away win at MyPa by three goals of young Roope Riski, but it was again a shortcoming from the hosts side and nothing like that is to be expected tomorrow. JJK travelled to meet KuPS lasti time around, but as they had no need for points they fielded a semi-reserve side and lost 2-1, their eyes were set on this match already. Both teams have their chances in this match, but more accurate info is needed.

No bets yet. Even.

***

VPS - FC Inter at 16.30

On paper this match is the least likely to produce any goals even with the best possible line-ups, but Inter´s Timo Furuholm is sidelined and his absence is crucial as there are no other goal-hungry strikers in the club, a problem that should had been solved ages ago. Grot scores every now and then but I would not count on that and this particular match might end with the same scoreline it started as the hosts have no strikers either that would cause any fear.

No bets yet. Underish. Even.

***

AC Oulu - FC Honka at 17.00

The home advantage evens up the set-up for this match, but if we take a look at the projected final standings of the teams there is only one favourite here, FC Honka.

Oulu have done well, and the fact that I have not seen them play since the end of last season when they were still at Ykkönen bothers me a bit. However, the fact that they are pretty much unchanged has worked in their favour in the pre-season and in the League Cup particularly and they have made a good use of their indoor home advantage, but on the other hand the profile of the team is pretty much one of an Ykkönen side, most players have very little experience on this level, apart from seasoned professional Mika Nurmela.

Honka is one of the favourites and most entertaining club in the league, but they are not that extraordinary away from home, and even if they are capable of scoring at will they also need Hermanni Vuorinen on the pitch, he did not play vs. Inter (0-0) because of a minor knock.

No bets yet. Goals to be expected.

Rankings for Finnish Leagues

I have been regularly asked if I am going to publish the league rankings this season and what is it going to be like. It is not a completely impossible idea, but as it is one of my basic tools I have decided not to publish any rankings or any other statistical tools I have created for myself. However I will copy and paste all other rankings and stuff from the local media that I  can find for you to see, and to be honest mine is not going to be hugely different than they are. It always helps to understand the odds as well, even if you do not always agree.

Last season I tried to visualize my rankings in a floating way, let us see what happened; HJK 1st, Honka 2nd, TPS came 3rd instead of 5th. Lahti did not continue their surprise run of 2008 but let their Euro campaign disturb the final half of the season, JJK survived by playing a draw in their last match vs. TamU and then cruised through in the play-offs vs. KPV. RoPS went down very deservedly. KuPS signed a lot of players and a new coach after the ranking was created, and were out of danger in good time. Haka were extremely lucky in the early season, but it is the goals and points that count, nothing else.

HJK TV

Here, for anyone who would like to see what the training facilities of the reigning champions are at this time of the year.

It is an interview of the physio of the club, HJK got bad news last week as their best striker so far this season Akseli Pelvas will need to undergo surgery and will be away for some time. Other long-term injured players Jarno Parikka, Janne Saarinen and Matias Lindström are not returning any time soon either, and it is no surprise that HJK hava dediced to sign a few new players, but I will talk more about them when I have seen them in action. A defender from Sweden and a Dutch striker from Fulham reserves have been named.

There have been also new signings and tests at least at TPS and JJK, and it looks like that along with the big number of experienced players returning to the Veikkausliiga there are better players in the League than ever before.

I have been struggling with this match, but first things first. KuPS odds were about ok or a bit valuable last night at 0.25 @ 1.84, but now they have rosen to 1.97 and that can not be ignored anymore.

The ideology behind my service is not to give straight betting suggestions but to show you where the value is, the prices move quite quickly and giving a pick at certain price would be a no-show for most of you. As there is only one match today it is easy to pinpoint the right option.

Last time I was strongly backing TamU and now it seems I do the opposite, it is a bit nervewrecking situation always, but TamU have again lost the plot completely and they suffered another injury early against AC Oulu when mf Tomi Petrescu had to leave the pitch. According to the reports Oulu were far better than I thought myself and I do not want to take anything from them

but TamU are

  • performing worse day by day,

  • the mental strength is not there,

  • the physical strength is not there,

  • the roles of the midfielders and  strikers are wrongly set,

  • the new players from Jaro have not found their place yet,

  • the best striker is constantly benched and there are far too many unexperienced players in the starting eleven.

  • not to mention that the experienced ones appear to be the laziest and concentrate on the wrong things, like giving negative feedback to the youngsters.

The list of problems is long, a lot of air must be cleared and TamU can not afford having that many players sidelined as they have now.

KuPS are a traditional club, one of their traditions lately has been to get relegated every now and then and they surely are not out of danger this year either. There are positive signs though, and quite a lot of them. Last season KuPS started very badly, but after they got Esa Pekonen to coach their record and performances have been solid mid-table. The signings they made last summer were succesful, and now that Ollo and especially Dickson are finally back KuPS midfield is as strong as anyone else´s. I do estimate KuPS as favourites under these circumstances, unfortunately they have no motivation competition-wise as they are already definitely out even if they win, but I am sure they want to fine-tune their game and field their best possible line-up as the start of the season is only a couple of weeks away, KuPS start 16th April at home vs another big club HJK.

KuPS managed to score their first goals of the competition vs. JJK (2-1 win), who admittedly had not their best possible starting eleven, but KuPS did create a bagful of goal chances also in their previous match which they undeservedly lost 0-1 vs Haka.

The current prices show respect for a big name TamU who are one of the best teams of the League in the 21st century, but the performances give no room to past glory. The prices are wrong by one handicap.

If you see a real price offered at your bookie as bigger than these, you should act. 5 % bigger should be enough to cover the analysis risk.

KuPS TamU
0,5 1,49 3,03 -0,5
0,25 1,68 2,48 -0,25

It is good to have a few bookies available, and especially when we talk about Nordic lower leagues it is likely that they open the market first at somewhere like Nordicbet. I will update this every now and then, if you can hold your breath!

Anyway, no more chit-chat. If you are interested, take a look, if not then don´t.

There will be some ads for bookies on the right side from time to time, at least until I get fed up with them myself. David Beckham was here!

It always strikes me  by a surprise how people here want to believe in everything they would like to hear. David Beckham said about Turku about like this, " Turku is a wonderful city and people are nice, I definitely want to come back."

Yeah, right.

Do not get me wrong, I have nothing against Becks. Only people and the media sometimes get under my skin.

"First we have the Finns. I always thought Finns were European enough to think of Beckham first and foremost as a footballer and not the sixth Spice Girl.  How wrong could I go. As Beckham’s approximated time of arrival on Monday drew nearer, a good bunch of people gathered near the entrance of the private hospital where Becks was to be treated. In the hope of what I do not know.".

Trans Narva are cheaters?

As the article from NFN show betting in Estonian leagues is not always that straight-forward. I have followed that also myself but fortunately the limits are smaller than in the other leagues. And for a reason.  Took Trans vs Kohtlajärve myself and for a change I have someone else to blame than myself!

Finland league cup review 23-24th March

Lahti - HJK 4-1.

A deserved home win in a fast encounter for the more motivated team against the favourites who were resting some key players. Asian line Lahti + 0,75

KuPS - JJK 2-1
Finally KuPS got a result! JJK were resting some 3-5 players who would normally start. A lot of goal chances for KuPS, but they needed Miikka ilo to convert them into goals in Venäläinen´s absence."Better team won", said JJK coach Kari Martonen, " we lost the battle in the midfield." Asian line KuPS -0,25 pretty much correct.

Inter Turku - Honka 0-0.

Two key moments in the game, red card for Inter after 5 minutes, and Honka top scorer and key man  Hermanni Vuorinen not playing but watching the match and eating sausages defined the game, in which Honka was naturally closer to score. I took Inter  0,25 and it looked like a good bet, for all the first five minutes. Any scouts looking for a striker to sign also drew a blank as both possible targets were sidelined - one might say that it was exactly for that purpose ;)

TamU - AC Oulu 0-3
My biggest bet of the day with full confidence, and it left no room for explanations. TamU are in their yearly crisis now and Oulu continue with a good run after another very positive result. Tough times for TamU supporters - and anyone trying to figure out their performances. The quality is obviously there, but where is self-confidence, will and trust? Is Tuomas Haapala any help at all or a burden too heavy to carry? Very bad signing indeed. Ashamed to say, I took TamU -1.

On Saturday KuPS - TamU, and a win is needed for the visitors if they want to qualify. Can not see myself backing them but it is always down to the price and value. More about this on Saturday morning.

Enjoy your day.

I have never been too enthusiastic about head-to-head stats, but this time it makes an interesting reading and speaks volumes about the quality of Inter mastermind and head coach Job Dragtsma who came to Inter 2007.

As all stats, this is another lie and Inter have both played well and been extremely lucky a couple of times, but if you were going to back Honka away today maybe there is a reason to think twice? Patrick O'Shaughnessy Finland

To be honest I do not have that much to say about him because I have not that much time for under age football, but lately there have been so many incoming  referring links via google about him that I better notice it.

He is a solid defender and I dare to say that definitely a key player in the U17 national team for Finland and sure, I have seen him play. However, there is still a long way to go to be able to play in the first league. My guess is that he will get some matches under his belt at Ykkönen with Klubi-04, but it will be tough for the whole team if they play with youngsters only against experienced clubs.

Some of his team mates at HJK (-93) have already played with the first team, at least Valtteri Moren and Lum Rexhepi have been fielded in the league cup matches as defenders as there is a shortage of center backs in the HJK team.

My pick from that team to get some place first is Valtteri Moren, a cool samihyypiä - type of a player.

Finland this week

Hi.
A quick review and preview, more tomorrow. Last weekend results and this week schedule.

JJK – Jaro 1-1.
Eremenko Jr. came back and conquered, with this draw JJK secured their place in the quarter-finals, Jaro have still chances, on paper that is. TamU are two points behind with matches to go, Jaro have no more matches.

VPS – AC Oulu 1-0. As expected, no goal fest. Both teams are through to play-offs and will face big trouble against the teams from the other group. Even match.

Inter Turku – IFK Mariehamn 2-1. Timo Furuholm showed his importance for Inter again by scoring the first goal. IFK test player equalized and Ari Nyman hit the late winner. IFK deserved this time more, and they are now out, Inter are through. IFK reported having seen enough of the Russian test player but they are undecided with the Frenchman.

KuPS – TamU postponed due heavy snowfall. KuPS odds dropped big time before the kick-off and went down to ridiculously low levels, if that happens again there is big value on TamU this weekend.

23.3.2010 FC Lahti – HJK 17:30 Kisapuisto
24.3.2010 FC Inter - FC Honka 15:00 Yläkenttä / Kupittaa 5

Finland League Cup 16 - 20th March

Today

Haka - VPS CET 12.30

Haka came home from Kuopio
last weekend with the luckiest win this season
so far when 3 goals by KuPS got disallowed
and also the last Dickson
shot of the game only hit the post,
FT 0-1 and my
KuPS - 0,25 bets went down the drain.

Today there are still questionmarks about
the Haka line-up, the stomach disease
they suffered at Kuopio is not completely
over yet and making even remotely
accurate estimations is impossible.
Haka have no motivation or possibility
to qualify to play-off stages however
wheres VPS face the match
with an urge to get some points
back home. Final asian handicap price limits
and estimations
will be sent to mailing-list customers after
getting confirmation of the
actual line-ups.
The current line Haka - 0,25 @ 2.08 is
not tempting me the slightest with
the information available so far.

Interestingly local bookie Veikkaus
gives the biggest market price for
VPS 2 @ 3.50 and it is slightly disturbing.

Finland league cup round-up

League Cup round-up

I saw none of the matches because of none of them was close by, but here is a short review of what happened and why.

KuPS - Haka 0-1 (0-0)

KuPS dominated throughout the game but managed to let the to match slip out of their hands. " Three of our goals were disallowed and at least one of them was perfectly solid. There were 3-4 one on ones and the strikers really have to look at the mirror very closely. It was a good match from us but I can not be happy," said KuPS manager Esa Pekonen.

Haka coach Sami Ristilä praised specially KuPS striker Dickson and admitted that Haka were in trouble throughout the game, but also gave thanks to their test players and reserves for good effort.

Haka line-up was surprisingly bad and this win was fully undeserved. Haka faces next VPS at home on Tuesday at 12.30 CET and hopefully is overrated big time. KuPS will host TamU on the 20th at 13.00 CET.

MyPa - TPS 0-3 (0-1)

A hat trick by 18 yo. Roope Riski was the difference between the two sides at Kouvola. The match was fast and started with a MyPa pressure, but as mentioned before the MyPa strikers Votinov and Ricketts are not really up to the task. MyPa coach Janne Lindberg was very unsatisfied with the movement and the energy of the home side, while his colleague at TPS was happy and said that TPS started to look like the way they should look when the proper season is on.

TPS have played all their group phase league cup matches and will play next time in the quarter-finals on 31.3. if the other matches go favourably. MyPa will host Honka on the 17th at 15.00 CET.

Lahti - Inter 0-1 (0-0)

Inter coach Job Dragtsma saw that Inter fully deserved the win and they gave Lahti no goal-scoring chances at all, but their own attacking play was bad, at least until Timo Furuholm stepped in on the second half. Inter defense is and will be one of toughest to break this season, and if the strikers(read: Timo Furuholm) stay fit Inter is one of the favourites to win the title along with HJK and Honka.

Lahti will host HJK 23rd March and despite the fact there is no stakes for either of the teams this is traditionally a big match, a big rivalry especially among the fans. Inter will entertain IFK Mariehamn the 20th March at Turku.

Tampere United - FF Jaro 2-0 (0-0)

TamU will travel to Kuopio the 20th to face KuPS while Jaro will meet JJK away on the same day. Last night at Tampere the home side improved again their performance on the second half and took a deserved win. TamU have been like a diesel machine this pre-season, they start badly every match and improve while the games goes on. TamU defender Jari Nikkilä got badly injured in the match and might be out for the whole season, which would be horrible news for TamU who never have the widest material possible but like to rely on the youngsters from the reserve team.

There was a chance for an excellent round betting-wise as I took Inter & TamU on LIVE betting with high odds, but the pure unluck at Kuopio destroyed the day back to square one as KuPS was my first max  bet of the season.

I will probably travel to Valkeakoski on Tuesday and to Kouvola on Wednesday to see Haka-VPS and MyPa-Honka respectively and will take my laptop along for late updates.
As mentioned earlier none of the betting - related info is no more free. The blog will go on as it is, but all accurate price limits and estimations and late updates and line-up analysis are now reserved  for paying customers only. If you want to be a part of the Innner Circle please drop me a line at puntteri@gmail.com and you will get a tailor-made offer for the succesful Finnish Football season 2010.

Take KuPS today, kick-off 13.00 CET - update

Haka start their away match with at least 5 players who are not capable of playing in the league, also their 2nd choice keeper is between the posts and one of the others is a test player from Ghana who is unlikely to succeed in the arctic winter on the artificial pitch at Kuopio. From the regular starters there are only Parviainen, Strandvall and Innanen, Gela will also start in the summer but last season he was playing at Ykkönen at Atlantis, Multanen from his part played most of the season at the reserves and is not a top league striker either.

KuPS - 0,25 @ 1.95 is the gem of the week. Take it, now!

EDIT: FT 0-1.
Those of who you know me know that I am not the first one to blame bad luck if the picks go wrong, but this a ridiculous shot in the face by Lady Luck. KuPS scored three times, all got disallowed. They were not awarded the penalty they fully deserved and in the last attack Dickson decided to hit the post.

All in all, Haka would win this match once out of ten with this kind of line-up and performance, and it happened today. I am disappointed, but would take the bet anytime again with max stake.

Sweden and Norway start this weekend!

Extremely good news to get more of these less known leagues on the way, the big leagues are way more difficult to make money.

Kalmar host IFK Göteborg and while Kalmar - 0,25 @ 2.25 just might be a tad of value yet it has to be remebered that this is the opening round, it will be started earlier than usual because of the break during the World Cup and the pitches are in awful condition in the whole of Scandinavia.

As you all know Göteborg are no mugs either. No bet yet, but if there is it will be backing Kalmar.

Tippeligan also start with just one match, Brann host newly promoted Haugesund. I see this as a perfect opportunity to inform you about Nordic Football Info´s Tippeligan previews!

Brann - 1 @ 2.06 vs Haugesund+ 1 @ 1.86?

Finland - Estonia U18 FT 1-0

A disappointing match by Finnish test players and to cut the story short I will give credit only to first half Finnish goalkeeper Jere Pyhäranta (FC Honka) for saving a good shot. Well, Lorents Hertsi did well, but he is very small being a defender when the going gets tough.

Drove way too long to see crap like this.

1 Jere Pyhäranta, FC Honka
2 Samu Nieminen, JJK
5 Santeri Ahola, HJK
8 Jesse Ahonen, HJK
10 Juho Lehtonen, PoPa
11 Fisnik Grdjaljija, HJK
13 Sergei Korsunov, Ilves
15 Lorents Hertsi, FC Reipas
19 Jan-Erik Heljander, FC Inter
20 Tomas Hradecky, TPS
23 Atte Hoivala, KuPS

Subs:12 Jere Koponen, FC Inter
4 Elja Heiskanen, FC Honka
6 Lum Rexhepi, HJK
7 Teemu Pastila, MP
14 Kalle Kauppi, FC Inter
22 Sami Räsänen, KuPS

From the Estonian side the most positive was the left back from Levadia, Anier started from the bench and Richard Leht had a bad day. I would sign Hannes Anier any day to my team, if I had a team that is.

Oh yes, the goal. Scored by Heljander at 15th minute from a Juho Lehtonen cross from the left side. Heljander hit the goalie first for a couple of times, but came out stronger.

Finland league Cup 13th March

Thoughts and asian price limits will be published here, but not until the match day. Sooner or later I will also stop publishing too accurate and detailed previews and limits here in order not to make life too hard for my paying customers.  As all of you already know information on Finnish Football matches is not so easy to come by.

Sbobet came out of the closet with 3 matches.  Lahti + 0,5 vs Inter -0,5 2.11 - 1.80, KuPS-0,25 vs Haka + 0,25 1.88 - 2.02 and MyPa 0  vs TPS 0 1.83 - 2.07

Interesting views, as it is that they have no idea of what is going to happen at Tampere Utd vs FF Jaro.   I will take a bet now and see what I can do here. Edit. TamU - 0,75 @ 185 vs Jaro 0,75 @ 2.05. This is easy to choose from!

Jaro published today a transfer news bomb, Alexei Eremenko Jr - the son of the current manager and a national team player - will return to Jaro from Ukraina. Most likely the best player of the league by a margin if fit and  motivated.

Funnily, the odds are moving back and forth in this match in Asia.

Estonian football

This is a topic I will probably discuss more closely in the summer, but bettingwise it is a bit problematic because of very low limits at asian bookies.

Took Levadia, Flora and Nomme Kalju for today´s round, but the odds were slashed right away and there is no sense to follow.

Estonia however is a very interesting country. More about this latest by the time of Levadia´s CL-qualification matches, mean while my next contact with Estonian football is the U18 friendly against Finland on Saturday at Eerikkilä.

There are some nice international matches at Tallinn this summer.

EURO 2012      03.09.2010 00:00      Eesti - Itaalia
 EURO 2012      12.10.2010 00:00      Eesti - Sloveenia

EM 2009-11     20.05.2010 00:00     Eesti - Armeenia

Not to mention match vs Finland the 21st May!

I am afraid I have not praised this man enough yet

Instead of praising someone for good insight and succesful bets I find it necessary to praise also a man who is ready to do something to help his community, community this time meaning the whole world. Well, the poorer part of the world, the less fortunate half of it.

Bjorn is a Norwegian ex-footballer who did start a long journey last summer.

From Oslo, Norway, to South Africa to take part in the World Cup.

By bike.

To raise awareness of the refugee situation. To help them, even a bit. Those people have never taken a bet, except with their lives.

Take a look at what he is doing, talk with him, leave a message and show your support. It will not cost you a dime. Attention, communication and awareness is the key.

I am proud that I can call this man my friend.

League Cup 9th March Tampere Utd - JJK

Kick-off 17.30, venue Pirkkahalli, indoor arena.

Preview and price limits on a match day. Need to get team news in these semi-important league cup matches, otherwise it is just a toss of a coin and seemingly good early odds may turn out to be extremely low in the end.

The early odds seem interesting indeed, TamU - 1 @ 2.05 vs. JJK + 1 @ 1.85. Well the odds are ok but the line differs quite a lot from my early thoughts! Took JJK +1, the bookies estimate about 10-15 % too big winning chances for Tampere United.

Busy with other things, quick look at my price limits.

TamU -1.0 : JJK +1.0 2.41 - 1.71
TamU -0.5 & -1.0 : JJK +0.5 & +1.0 2.07 - 1.93
TamU -0.5 : JJK +0.5 1.82 - 2.22

League Cup 8-14 March

The week´s program consist of 5 matches featuring Tampere United twice at home on their new artificial pitch. HJK are in Marbella, Spain. Previews and price limits to follow. Times CET

9.3.2010
TamU - JJK 17:30 Pirkkahalli

13.3.2010
FC Lahti - FC Inter 12:00 Kisapuisto
KuPS - Haka 13:00 Magnum Areena
MYPA - TPS 13:00 Lehtomäki (Kouvola)
TamU - FF Jaro 13:30 Pirkkahalli

Have a nice weekend

I will spend mine by playing two futsal matches myself and watching 3-4 club friendlies, but they are not probably in offer at the betting market because of "pitch time", they will be something like 85 minutes long/short because the clubs have only 90 minutes of pitch time each. Sad but true, there are not enough indoor arenas to satisfy everyone.

At least I will take a look at Klubi04 - Åbo IFK, Gnistan - Tallinn Kalev and Atlantis - FC Espoo. Pre-season is important for a good early betting season!

Enjoy your weekend, now I would say that there will be no updates until Monday.

Weather can be a factor too - in Germany of all places

League cup TPS - HJK at 14.00 CET

To show you what the conditions really are, here is a pic of the match taken from the excellent blog "Puoliaika" by Mr  Lari Vesander;

EDIT FT 1-2.

EDIT : Live update. HJK have dominated and lead 0-1 at 43 Rafinha goal, but the matches at Turku tend to bit split in two halves and there is a reason to believe TPS can still make a match out of this. No live bets yet however, I am suffering of a poor live update service.

TPS have Ääritalo on the bench, which means that at some point he will be substituted in and that will bring more attacking options for them. Both U21 players Jani Virtanen and Toni Kolehmainen will start. HJK have Ville Wallen again between the posts after the match-loser Viander having given a goal free for Inter´s Grot last week, Pelvas is on the bench and instead Juho Mäkelä will start as a lone striker. Erfan Zeneli is a surprise winger on the right, still there is no sight of Sebastian Sorsa who is a key player in the attacking department along with Dawba Bah. There are a couple or risky players in the TPS starting XI which make me stay clear of pre - match bets, but my plan is to wait and see. If I take something it will be TPS, unless my match reporter suggests otherwise.

The prices have moved into HJK direction, TPS 0 @ 2.17 - HJK 0 @ 1.75 now. I seriously doubt whether this is the right direction.

Edit: TPS 0 dropped from 2.2 --> 1.99 30 minutes before kick-off.

HJK will play outdoors for the first time this season, their performances are on a downward trend whereas things look more bright at TPS camp day after day. There is a big risk of a draw here and I will wait at least until the line-ups are published, and TPS have also been the most inconsistent team during a match so a live bet might be the best option here. Or a no bet.

I did take over 2.5 @ 2.14 yesterday, but naturally there are many facts that speak in favour of an under as well, and match totals are just a toss of coin according to many betting experts. EDIT: Decided to close this bet right after 1-1 goal, a draw was most likely before the game and it would suit them both. Some profit anyway in the back, u2.5 @ 2.42

An update will be published when I get the line-ups. Two players of each team played with Finland U21 on Wednesday away at Czech Republic and HJK also have gotten rid of two test players who were fielded against Inter Turku last Friday. TPS first choice gk Jukka Lehtovaara has been at a surgery, but he has not played any of the previous league cup matches either.

HJK will travel to Marbella on Sunday for a pre-season camp.

Remember Björn?

His crazy project to cycle from Oslo, Norway to South Africa in the name of charity has taken him now all the way to Sudan. For heartbreaking stories tune in to the Shirt and do your piece. Life is not just about football, in some just cases it is even a bit more.

Contact info

Hi all.
I have received surprisingly many emails lately - a big thank you for that - and feedback is always a good thing and helps me to see where I stand. However, if anyone has tried lately contacting me by msn and has never been accepted there is a reason for it, spam. Some 95 % of the latest attempts to connect me by messenger have been taken by webcam-porn industry which has led me to almost automatically decline all new contacts I have never heard of. It would naturally be fun to talk with the girls every once in a while but they are just robots!

So if you wish to chat, please email me first at puntteri@gmail.com. Emails, questions, requests and critisism are always very welcome, so far all of them have been answered to and that is the way it will continue.

League Cup 3rd March FC Lahti - MyPa

Edit: FT 0-1 after the 1st min Votinov goal.

Lahti have been weak in defence and MyPa strikers are the most useless in the league - at least until Pele Koljonen is fit to play again - facts that do not really encourage to pick either of the teams. The match will be played outdoors in some -2 C temperature and it has got some derby flavour in it. MyPa won IFK Mariehamn last week 2-0 and performed well, but as mentioned earlier IFK are not too keen on this competition and their away form tells nothing. Lahti have also faced IFK and came home from the island with a 2-1 loss in the bag. Lahti gk Juha Tuomi is in the Czech Rep with U21 national team, but to be honest I am not at all sure he is any better than Leino who will play this match.  Rough asian price limits here, but I am not sure I want to bet anything, perhaps under? If the prices for Lahti rise even more to give me enough buffer against the estimation risk I might take it after all. Target is Lahti + 0,5 @ 2.00!

Edit: I was already asked what do I mean, I publish the limits and then do not follow them myself?  It is a vague, I know, but the reason behind this is that instead of 26 % for a Lahti win the more accurate number might be 23 or 30 %. At this time of year there are too many random factors involved and there should be more value in the bets than usual because of the analysis risk. Another good option is to not to bet these league cup matches as they are not much more than friendlies after all, but as I follow them closely I naturally have an idea, and by analysing them and following them I get a clearer picture.
