I have received several questions regarding wtf is happening with Finnish clubs at the moment as there have been random news about off season promotions and so on so here a few facts below of what possibly has happened recently:
- Honka were not granted a league license for season 2015 and basically they are now bankrupt and cease to exist. Their reserve club Pallohonka will be re-named as Honka Akatemia and they continue at Kakkonen.
- KTP will win extra promotion from Ykkönen to Veikkausliiga because of this.
- MyPa have received some added time to convince the league license committee that they would survive the season 2015. Dead line is Jan 8th, and in case they fail - I think they will - there will be either TPS or Ilves (or no one) who gets another Veikkausliiga place. If MyPa go bankrupt they will quit all action as they have no reserves and very bad youth organization.
- All of these changes will also have an effect on Ykkönen and Kakkonen. The first ones on line to win promotion to Ykkönen are Atlantis and VIFK, but at least Atlantis have had financial problems of their own, although the transfer of their top striker to Estonian top club Flora is likely to help them a lot on this front.
- One of the relegated Kakkonen teams JBK did win their place back however already, and as they are the reserves of FF Jaro it is an important piece of news at Pietarsaari.
Because of all of this extra hassle there have not been confirmed league cup schedule or not much else confirmed news, but from next week on a lot should start happening and there will be random news at this site.
