Today I will give up my own football shoes and my ball

There is a guy doing charity for the kids in Malawi here at Helsinki Cup 2010, he collects balls and other football gear for them and then transports the whole lot into Africa.

It is pretty much about time for me to give up outdoors football - atually I have done it already years ago - and get rid of all unnecessary stuff for kids who need it more than I do.

These fellows in the pictures are from The Shirt - a project to raise awareness for the refugee situation in Africa - but it will do nicely to show that there are always people in bigger need than us, and I am not talking about only football here.

Have not properly followed the World Cup as I have been busy with my own projects, but I have been following Bjorn Heidenström with his project the Shirt - and it is not over and never will be.

When the games are soon over remember also the less fortunate, the small ones.

The Shirt is already in Africa

Bjorn Heidenstrom who is cycling from Oslo, Norway to Cape Town, South Africa is in Tanzania now.

If you have not yet familiarized yourself with the project now it is a perfect time to read all about the Shirt.

I am afraid I have not praised this man enough yet

Instead of praising someone for good insight and succesful bets I find it necessary to praise also a man who is ready to do something to help his community, community this time meaning the whole world. Well, the poorer part of the world, the less fortunate half of it.

Bjorn is a Norwegian ex-footballer who did start a long journey last summer.

From Oslo, Norway, to South Africa to take part in the World Cup.

By bike.

To raise awareness of the refugee situation. To help them, even a bit. Those people have never taken a bet, except with their lives.

Take a look at what he is doing, talk with him, leave a message and show your support. It will not cost you a dime. Attention, communication and awareness is the key.

I am proud that I can call this man my friend.

Time to remind you about the Shirt again

The journey from Oslo Norway to Cape Town for South African World cup is well under way.

It is not only about having fun on a bike, but also a mission to help the less fortunate than us.

Bjorns bicycle got stolen!

You remember the story about the Norwegian guy cycling from Oslo to South-Africa for charity purposes?

Well, seems to be he got stuck in Amsterdam for a while as his precious bike got stolen.

If you have not yet read the story please do, it is about connecting the football family and not forgetting the ones less fortunate than we are.

So, in perspective, losing a couple of bets every now and then is not that bad, there are also people out there who do not have the luxury to that. A cup of fresh water might suffice.

EDIT: So he got a new bike, and down below he is celebrating that with his new best friend in Dam!
