Finland Kakkonen live limits - candy money or not?

There’s been a lot of talk regarding Kakkonen live market size since 19 July MuSa case broke out in the Finnish media. There’s plenty of ignorance and several claim that Kakkonen live is only available for candy money while some have claimed it could not have been a fix as “teams were pretty equal and thus KaaPo’s win was no surprise”. Others still keep on insisting that it would be smarter to fix only throw ins and corner kicks (like money could be made out of Finland third tier special events!). I was extremely tempted to include some of the silliest comments here but that’s kind of out of the topic. I have written few lines about MuSa match here and plenty in the social media. Odds data is available at nowgoal for anyone wishing to study what odds might look in the worst case.  If MuSa match is what you are interested in and you speak Finnish then I recommend you to read this  article published on FTFinland 22 July. Latter link includes also “Asian handicaps for dummies” guide that’s highly recommended for all the Finnish readers with less experience of the betting world. In this post focus will be on Kakkonen live limits.

Okay, Kakkonen limits are far from the limits of Veikkausliiga (example from April - note that limits are now larger as big leagues are on break) not to mention any top European leagues.

I wasn’t lucky enough to have taken print screens from the mentioned MuSa match but limits were similar on another Kakkonen match the following day. Mentioned figures are from 20 July Kakkonen match between Atlantis and TPV. I apologize that the following picture is small but I’ll walk you through the figures. You may also choose to access the picture directly (link) and increase the size.

Please note that I’ve only included a handful of main stream bookmakers and this is by no means total size of the market. Atlantis vs TPV match was available also in plenty of other bookmakers for live betting, e.g. 188bet, M88, Easybet, Bet365, 18bet etc. One with advanced access could’ve placed larger bets but that’s another story (in the linked FTFinland article above it was estimated that a total sum up to one million euros could have been invested in the MuSa match).

Main line for Asian handicap was TPV -0.25 while lines between +0.5 and -1 were available. Only top three offers in odds were visible from Betfair no matter how small/large in money they were. That doesn’t provide a full picture of BF offers and thus I’ll not give too much emphasis for them. Pinnacle had the most lines available and they covered all the lines from TPV -0.75 to +0.25. Singbet had the biggest limits (3.015e) but they only offered the main line -0.25. Here’s the complete list visible in the picture too.

Pinnacle: +0.25 1.285e; +0 955e; -0.25 586e; -0.5 461e; -0.75 461e
Sing: -0.25 3.015e
SBO: -0.25 1.142e; -0.5 264e
IBC: -0.25 696e; -0.5 350e
ISN: -0.25 145e

Combined maximum stake with a single click (including all the available offers, i.e. also top 3 offers from BF) was 10.593e.

In total markets lines between 1.25 and 2.25 were available. Pinnacle offered all of those while Singbet had the highest limit (3015e) with the main line 2.00. Here’s the complete list:

Pinnacle: 1.25 1.302e; 1.50 793e; 1.75 586e; 2.00 461e; 2.25 461e
Sing: 2.00 3.015e
SBO: 2.00 1.141e
IBC: 1.75 417e; 2.00 675e
ISN: 2.00 145e

Combined maximum stake with a single click (including all the available offers, i.e. also top 3 offers from BF) was 10.125e.

It should be noted that Kakkonen limits vary a lot depending on the date and time they are played. Limits are highest right now i.e. during June and July when all the big European leagues are on break and there’s only a few leagues running. Same applies to other, even smaller leagues too (example of Finland U19 league limits). For the less experienced readers it must be highlighted that the mentioned amounts are single bet limits and one may take the same bet again and again if he accepts the odds change in between.

A question for all those who consider Kakkonen limits candy money – can you eat +10.000e worth of candy in few seconds intervals?
