TamU - JJK preview

A sad trip awaits JJK?

H2H 1-0-0 11.3. League Cup JJK – TamU 2-3

TamU: 3-0-0-3-0-3
JJK :0-0-0-3-0-0

Tampere United is finally back on track. The 3-2 home win after being two goals down against Inter was a boost to the team moral and for once they were the lucky one by scoring a late minute winner. The spirits are high at the Tampere camp now that also Chris James 2/1 has returned to the squad and also first choice goal-keeper Mikko Kavén 2/0 is likely to join the team.

Important midfielder Juska Savolainen 12/1 will join the injury list, but the head coach of Tampere United Ari Hjelm is not afraid to trust in the younger players, ” there are already more players out injured than on the training pitch, but that gives are younger players like Jusu Karvonen valuable experience of the tough Veikkausliiga games. I am not least worried.”

JJK is actively testing new players in July. ”We are looking for players to all positions on the pitch except the goalkeeper position. We wanted to give a chance for our own players who earned the promotion to show if they can make it in the top division, but now it is time to acknowledge that we need some 4-6 new players to strengthen the squad if we want to stay in the League,” admits managing director Joni Vesalainen. One of the players tested is macedonian striker Gjorgji Hristov, with 48 international caps with the national team.

The JJK performance in Lapland left a lot to wish for, and they were completely outplayed by the RoPS side though the decisive goal was a late winner in a dramatic game with two red cards and two late goals.

”I told the players that the best way to get the disappointment out of your system is the charge yourself fully to the next game and grab some points, that is what are we going to do at Tampere, ” says coach Ville Priha of the Jyväskylä side.

JJK center-back Markus Paija 5/0 is suspended, Niko Markkula 5/0 is out because of flu.
