Finland U18 won the Valentin Granatkin Memorial

I wish I  could report it better, but as there was no glimpse of the tournament to be seen I have to settle to the results and official info from the organizers.

Fin - China 2-0 (0-0)

Df Mikko-Petteri Latosaari (Haka) and mf Aleksi Paananen (KuPS) were awarded. Hopefully they will be at Uusi Lahti Cup with their respective teams in the end of the month.

Comments.

Head coach of Finland:
- I’m very happy not only for my team but for the whole country. Finnish team wins not every day. Today, as we expected, was a difficult game. I looked through all the games of China, noted the tactics and discipline of this team, that is why we prepared very carefully. We have no loses on this tournament: the draw, than victory, the draw and victory again, it was a surprise for me, but this can happen only in football. It shows that level of our team is increasing and we should win again,  may be here, may be somewhere else.
Talking about the team, I can say that 3 boys played for the first time with this squad, three players are newcomers in national team – that is why I have 6 new players here, and couldn’t dream about better result than this. Next year I will work with a Youth National team of Finland and some of these players I want to take with me.
I thank the organizers of the tournament, hope we will be invited next year.

Head coach of China:
- I congratulate Finland team with the victory! Our opponents showed their best, especially in the games with Russia and Italy, it was a football of high quality. Certainly we wanted to score and win, but the Finnish team could score twice on last minutes. If we didn’t loose the ball at the end of second half we could win.
We learned much for these days: got a lot of  information about players and about youth football in general. In spite of second place, I think that our team played on high level. If we calmed down the excitement, the result would have been different. Probably we wanted to win too much."
