Have to study this a bit further, but important decisions regarding the system have been made yesterday. There will be less teams in Veikkausliiga and Ykkönen and in Kakkonen in the future, but the future is pretty much now for some teams.
Instead of three promotion spots from Kakkonen to Ykkönen there will be only one already this season, a decision they published two weeks before the season starts! If Ilves is as powerful as it should be there is no contest for the promotion spot and the motivation of all other wannabe- promotion candidates will go down the drain.
This subject will be covered later with more in-depth analysis, but as of Veikkausliiga 2010 the system remains the same, it will change from a 14 team league into a 12 team league for 2012 and the number of matches will increase from 26 to 33.
At Ykkönen the changes are even more dramatic, but I need to come back to this.
